+1 I find that getting control of my online footprint is quite appealing, control who can read your thoughts and evaluate your decisions, basically

Some Rob Braxman videos achieve this - they're not short, the practical advice isn't as good as Techlores, but I wouldn't be interested in privacy if he didn't scare the living s*** out of me.

I appreciate how, on Techlore, you are able to speak to the public while still having your finger on the pulse. It makes information accessible having the communication skills to bridge that aspect of tech, and Carey also embodies this real-life approach. Great vid.

30:30 yes it is a red flag🚩. How can I take the advice from a public figure seriously if they're not open to criticism. Respect to Henry for hosting Live Q&As👍🏻.

I believe he said he was fine with feedback. The problem is that trolls who hide behind their usernames don't know how to give good feedback. I think he explained his reasoning fairly well and it was reasonable. Especially when he provides ways for you to send him feedback in a more personal manner.

In regards to picture posting. ... I used to tell the kids I worked with that they couldn't post my picture because I was on the witness protection program and they didn't want to see the results. lolol. Several of them believed it, or wasn't sure but didn't want to push it. :-)

I'm glad I listened to this video. I really appreciate the way he approached his stance on some things as well as the attitude about trying to knock out the low hanging stuff that will get us significantly more privacy. Good job on the interview. I went and checked out the podcast and will try giving it a listen.

As someone in cyber myself. It's great to hear the things I figured out for myself and was kinda guessing at be parroted at me. Apple over google (unless you're really into privacy then go google except the hacky way), VPNs are mostly pointless you're just trading one ISP for another, go hotspot they already have 90% of your internet browsing data anyways. Honestly that last point is why I use MS Edge (chrome based). I'm sure MS is already harvesting my browsing data due to the fact I'm on a windows machine so might as well use the "basically Chrome but with cool features". Trade one devil for another but they already had my data anyways. For my Manjaro machine? Brave. Not as good, but private. Random thought: At some point I want to set up a VPN into my home network. That way I can just tunnel back and give 100% of my browsing to my local ISP (phone and public wifi).

mh I don't understand, he is talking about mr. snowman and prsm... and then "you can go apple for a quick fix" - did he not see the prsmslide with "apple" on it? do I miss smth? how is apple not simply sharing all data like ggl? let me know what u think, because I'd like to like apple, lol, but it is hard.

Just something strange I wondered if you had any explanation to: I have a fairly modern phone (3 year old sony 1 iii - its still "new" ish battery is excellent. But recently I noticed that when I turn off all sensors with the developer option for doing so, turning off wifi, bluetooth, mobile data, and pop it in a faraday bag overnight - it looks like its using vast amounts of power / electricity on trying to check for some kind of contact with the internet or any kind of connection, because when I wake up the battery is down to 11% from 77-80 in the evening preceding. On normal use battery will last for two-three days before battery is anywhere as low as 11% . is there some hidden apps still trying to look for some connection? ( I installed Netguard and put it in lockdown mode before putting it in the faraday bag too)

I love Firefox but the problem is it doesn't work on so many sites. For example a major retailer in my country, I cannot shop using FF. I have to use Chrome. I've experienced so many incidents of this on different sites. I still use FF but what's the point when so many retailers aren't configured for your browser?

Try "user agent spoofing". Some websites will work on FF just fine if you just lie and tell them that you're using Chrome by editing your "user agent string".

I disagree with the statements at 29:06 a lot of those comments would have been potentially valid concerns that people should know about. Just because an opinion is negative does not mean it's not valid. Some company failing an audit or having something else controversial going on is very imp ortant information to potential consumers

Whatever you do, don't ask Henry for help directly. He will insult you in one of his videos. Pretty arrogant to treat someone that really needs your help that way.
