Our Oasis in the Southern California Desert we call T&JRanch. We are zone 8bish. A whole lot more than sage and Joshua trees can grow here. Excited to share with you what that means.
I have chosen almost all above ground gardening in pots, totes and other containers. I compost in place and layer my containers for amazing soil. I use a timed drip system and extra hand watering.
This year I am enjoying the volunteer (plants) that have graced my garden. Although still guessing what some are. Helpers in the garden include my amazing Tom Fischer that can fix or build anything, Midnight the big fluff cat, Chip the border collie, Wiley the stray now family member and her puppy Olive, one of the Christmas puppies and new additions Sam the raven and Hildey the hummingbird. I’m excited to bring you along in my garden hoping to share my tips and tricks, what to do and how to do as well as what not to do 👀 in the Southern California High desert where we get very hot, very cold and very windy. Enjoying a garden to be able to share the fruits and vegs of our labor with friends and neighbors.
So a warm desert welcome to you I’m glad you stopped putting. Hope we get to see you often.
P.s everything here is from my 50+ years of gardening, trial and error, what works for me and our lifestyle and what we like. I hope it gives you ideas, inspiration and a good time. Be blessed, enjoy and don’t forget to take another look before you close the gate!
