Wish I had seen this last year when I nearly flipped my Jeep in Namaqua! Life saving advice indeed thanks Henk!

I really enjoyed this video. I spend a ton of time on Transkei dirt roads. Did 150000km in a Haval H1 in 3 years in rural Tkei. No joke, the 2 wd Haval was more stable and comfortable on the dirt roads than the bakkies I've had. The only reason I got rid of it is because I broke the shock mounting by driving too fast on a kak road too often.

It is most likely due to the fact that the suspension on the Haval was softer. On a bakkie it is much harder at the back to carry a load. If you are empty it will bounce around a lot more. Thank you for the feedback and sharing your experience in the Transkei. Regards,

Thank you for the reminders on gravel road driving. If I may add: - respect pedestrians and cyclists by slowing right down to limit dust - briefly get off the accelerator when passing oncoming traffic, it reduces stones being thrown up onto the other vehicle

Such a great basic video. When I first seen 4wheelingSA I thought it was in South Australia SA. Just brought our first 4x4 a Nissan Warrior, and have no idea what the buttons do say this weekend. Will try to find some gravel roads which should be pretty easy. So 4Hi and diff lock on. Thanks

Thank you. Glad you found it useful. Enjoy the outing. 4Hi with centre diff locked on gravel, not the rear difflock.

You didnt say much about washboard or coregated roads. They are dangerous to drive fast on cuz you just cant stop, and hell to drive slow on cuz its so bumpy. No cure, just dont drive too fast!
