I’m brand new to sewing. I purchased Simplicity 8813 and tried to make a small makeup bag for my sisters birthday gift. I did well up until the point where it started asking me to make the corners. It included an illustration but it was NOT helpful. I eventually gave up after staying up all night trying to get the bag done the day before her birthday party.

thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial! I returned from a Humanitarian Mission in Liberia, Africa recently. I brought back some fabric with me. I just made 20 of these for Christmas presents! Thanks, the instructions were fool proof!

You are a great teacher , very calm and concise. This does look complicated however. Think ill have to watch several times before i start lol . Edit - after several unsuccessful bags following other tutorials, ive watched yours again and have almost comopleted a very successful bag. I'm very pleased and it was very easy to follow and sew step by step. Thank you

You do an incredible job of explaining the steps. You also leave out the extra talking that's not necessary to the pattern. I appreciate that part the most. I learn pretty quickly, but I get so tired of waiting for the actual work. Thank you.

Thank you so very much, Sheryl for saving my project! After trying to follow several different bag tutorials - all of which were unsuccessful in one way or another, your tutorial saved the day, and as a result, I will be able to complete the bag I was creating for a gift. I am an experienced quilter and sewist and have made many bags and smaller zippered pouches, but will only use your tutorial going forward. Again, many thanks for your thoughtful and comprehensive tutorial! ~Lynn

Nice to meet your beautiful Family. I really enjoy your videos and have started sewing again. When I was a little girl my Angel my Grandmother would go to JCPennys and Sears (which were the two top department stores at that time late 60’s) Montgomery Wards and Macy’s look at all the new girls sizes from size 2-12 and go home sew me the most beautiful clothes. They were such great quality. She could sew like nobody’s business and was just as proud to make me the beautiful dresses shirts and pants skirts I’ve ever owned. I’m now a Grandmother and want to sew my Girls clothes just like my precious Grandmother did for me. I’m now 54 and some of my fondest moments were the fittings for me beautiful dresses ❤️ thank you for taking the time to teach us this wonderful skill that is not used as much as it used to be.

Great video! I love these little bags. I especially like the simple "boxed" corners! AND thanks for showing how you can use a longer zipper and just cut through it! I have a bunch of unused zippers that I can use up now!! Your family and those little pillow signs are precious! Thanks again.

Oh my gosh-this is THE perfect bag and more importantly, THE perfect tutorial for me! I’m a novice & just spent most of a week making a waist pack for daughter #2. Now I need to make a gift for daughter #1 but it’s Dec 9 and there’s a lot of other things to do, LOL. Thank you so much for this tutorial. You’ve reduced my stress level a lot!🙏🏼😊
