    I see that this is quite an old video, but I’m going to throw in my comments because the Action PJ is still available in the marketplace. I am a student of bass - not an experienced player. I bought an Action PJ in open pore walnut finish as my first bass. I started taking lessons, and participated in a number of jams with fellow students lead by my teacher. After a couple of years I decided to treat myself with a shiny new toy. I bought a Fender American Performer Jazz Bass. I love it. I smile every time I look at it and every time I play it. BUT: the Cort neck is definitely easier to play, the Cort seems to weigh half of what the Fender weighs, probably because of soft wood in the body, the Cort is more forgiving regarding string muting - the strings you’re not playing don’t seem to pick up the vibrations the way the Fender does. When I p,ay the Cort I usually keep the bridge pickup off and the neck pickup wide open because it really sounds a lot like a Fender P Bass in that configuration. So, I love my Fender, and I still love my Cort that cost 25% of what the Fender did. And I sure like the light weight. I highly recommend the Cort in your collection.

    Good to see fresh comments under this model. Im looking for smth really light for my injured back and came across Cort recommendations. Only one thing is to choose which one bc Plus in most reviews sounds a little bit farting, maybe of course it's the question of their setup or mine or proper tuning etc, so judging only by videos someone's sound is a controversial thing. Btw I saw the same opinions like yours about P and useless J. What would you say about PJ and Plus if you had any thoughts on it? Thanks

  • @rickporayko880

    @rickporayko880

    8 ай бұрын

    @@beecrispy Don’t get me wrong - the J pickup is not useless. You can get a lot of tones by blending both pickups and adjusting the tone. It’s just that I have a Fender J, and the only thing I can’t do is make the J sound like a P Bass. And I love the sound of a P Bass. I think a PJ setup gives a person tremendous flexibility. Now, about the PJ Plus… the biggest difference I see when I read about it is the fact that it has active pickups rather than passive. I’ve never played a bass with active pickups, and I am definitely not a good enough player to distinguish subtle differences or nuances between the two systems. Anyway, the Cort quality is very good, and to me the weight and overall feel of the instrument is very nice. I highly recommend Cort.

    @@hendyp6325 well, I haven’t played the latest builds of either so I can’t make a good judgement...but...when I used to work in a music shop, the Cort Action basses were cheaper and better value than the comparison Yamaha basses for me. They had a nice clear open sound and were great to play right out of the box. It’s been 10 years though so don’t take my word for it. One thing though...I didn’t like the more expensive Cort basses so much....it was that cheap Action model that I liked. I thought they were a comfortable bass to sit and noodle on too. Best thing to do if you can is go try some basses before buying and see what you like.

    Awesome basses. Since I've bought my Action-A I've tried some other basses and I still didn't found anything that would beat it in versatility in use, it's overall excellent universal guitar - if you want it to sound low - then it will, if you want it pretty bright - no problem. You want to slap? Turn it to neck pickup, and it'll have a great, rich punch. You want to pick it? Give the bridge one a try - would be as bright, as most of the jazz basses, sound even better, when distorted (brilliant for the Lemmy sound-like). I love mine and I would never, ever sell it. Many of my friends, which are actual musicians (not the bedroom bassists, like me) - even my befriended luthier - were astonished by it sound and overall quality for it's price. I'd really recommend them for any beginner and intermediate players.

    Just bought a open pore walnut Action PJ based on this review (and Bassbuzz). It was my first (experimental) departure from vintage Fender-style into modern-bass, got it pretty cheap, feels great, it's really of the weight it says in the review and its 7,5 cm shorter then my old bass, very thin neck, feels almost like a short-scale. Finally I can go to jams without having to use the car...I must fault the finish, however, electronics compartment edges are partly ragged and the body wood is rough in places (all on the backside).

    By the way, one criticism of the review is that saying "no other bass manufacturers are obsessed with quality but Cort" makes this video sound more like marketing less like a review.

    But is true, i looked up for a cheap guitar in every guitar store in my country and the others had some serius problems: dont intonate at all, constantly getting out of tune, potentiometer noise, and others, until i found the cort x1, man, is not perfect im not gonna lie, but they really put some real effort con construccting a good instrument

    Hi, I'm recently stuck in deciding which one to get as my first bass. The Cort Action Bass Plus or the Ibanez GSR200? Both are quality priced and spec'd. Would like to hear your thoughts on this

    Cort Action Plus by far. I’ve had both and the Ibanez felt cheaper/had buzzy electronics. I’ve played for 20 years and have 2 Cort Action Plus basses, really nice players. Whatever you buy, get it set up properly. Switch the blend pot for a m/n 500k also, will prevent volume drop when both pickups are on.
