I learned on my first lesson day, let the horse know where you are. When going around back, touch the horse and stay close.

Nope! I have kids who have been taking up for months that will come in with pads backwards. I left all the tack the pony needed for one kid I left for 5 minutes to pee and I returned to the smallest pony we have with the biggest girth on(gave the kids a 40 was wearing a 52) and the saddle on his loins/croup.

My mom raised me around horses but she always taught me to ask if the horse will kick before I go around LOL. And I gor bir by a donkey so I learned my lesson my hand is always flat

I’ve been riding for 7 years now and I still suck at giving them treats outa my hand. The hourses I work with nock it on the floor then when I go to pick it up they eat my hair lmao 😅.

When I started riding i was so nervous and now I literally do not care I just pat the horse and go on with my day lol

I’ve been riding for 9 years and every time I see a new person at the barn it’s always like this

“Who’s the cool kids in our grade?” *they show up to school with horses as their “vehicle”*

I love how they do all this without harming the horse

My brother the donkeys are going to kick me I hate them Me: giving them but scratches and walking behind them

literally though! my brother was supposed to take care of a donkey and some goats ands pigs but he made me feed the donkey and goats because they would follow me everywhere and he was scared they were going to attack him, since the donkey would nudge me for love. he thought it was going to stomp on me 😂

Horses are so majestic

I worked in a barn in highschool. I still remember that time fondly along with several outstanding horses. They would make me feed Helen, because of us barn girls, other than the barn manager and her owner, I was the only one she wouldn't try to bite. She had a kick chain, and would still kick her stall, so I'd poke my head out and yell "Helen! KNOCK IT OFF!!" And then she'd poke her pretty little head out of her stall like "what? Me?" I loved miss Helen. She was sassy and spunky and was a doll for me.

I’m a beginner and I didn’t know anything about how to ride a horse but the trainer of mine said to me that I was a natural and taught me more than she should’ve had 😂❤

The explanation to the first one is, when you walk around a horse,hold him by the side of his neck and drag your arm down his body, above his tail, and around. It makes it so the horse knows where you are and won’t be frightened by someone walking behind him. Because if frightened, he will kick you, and that could result in severe injury

I was about 3 years old when I went to the track with my dad, we had Standardbred horses and honestly it was one of the best experiences of my life!

I was always taught as a kid to either be as far away as possible or as close as possible if you were going around the back of the horse, as a kid I was nervous a lot so I picked the first one but when I got more comfy with the animals when I was a bit older, I started going for the second one

I had horseback training for a few months so all of these (both beginner and experienced) are relatable.

Omg! I was at this EXACT one before! It was in the winter though and SUPER cold! 😅

Give your horse some treats for me for being so patient with you both. I feel like your horse would glare. I grew up near a small farmer and I would visit his horses a lot with my siblings and this one white Horse named Rainbow and he was sweet and sassy. I got nudged by one horse and I slipped and he thought it was funny but he was a little jealous for me giving another horse some attention.😂❤
