For anyone who is using 2.9 and is having problems with the ColorRamp and having a hard stuck one color: To find the Multiply node, shift+A search Math. Change it to multiply. Set value to 67 just to follow exactly as shown in the video. Go to the mapping node and change the VECTOR part, not location, to 1 and 1 (x and z axis). :)

    GREAT TUTORIAL!

  • @liamconway9953

Hi. **Potential solution to solid white color** I'm using the latest version of blender as of this date, which I think is 2.9 or something. I had two problems following this tutorial which both resulted in a solid white color. Both problems have the same result and both need to be solved to prevent this. 1. The vector -> location section of the mapping tab. I'm a noob so I don't know why, but it didn't start to work until I tried NEGATIVE values in the x, y, and z categories. I settled on x: -2.3, y: 0, and z: 0. All this tells me is you all should try different values, negative and positive for each and see if you see a change. 2. There's a slight mistake in the video. At 5:12 he says "take the value of our math node and put it into the strength of our emission shader." This is correct. However, on the screen he incorrectly connects the value of the math node to the COLOR of the emission shader. When I first did this tutorial, I followed it on mute and got thrown off, here. Let me know if this helped and/or if you guys found other issues. I heavily rely on these tutorials to get the cool stuff I want and when they don't work I'm useless haha. I rely on all of you for troubleshooting so here's my first contribution. I'm half way through so I'll reply to my own comment if I find anything else.

Great video, love the effect. For anyone having issues with the gradient effect via the Color Ramp node, replace the Geometry node with a Texture Coordinate node, and connect the Generated property to the Vector property of the Mapping node. I used Blender 2.8.

@@flyinggoatman Using the texture Coordinate, connect the Object to the Vector and then at the bottom where it says object use the eyedropper to select the cube. That worked for me. Your cube has to be at the same level as your fire for the colour to show.

I do have 1 question though: Despite following exactly your steps down to the hex value, my fire doesn't look as saturated as yours. the origin is white and it ends in a bright desaturated orange, unlike yours which has a brilliant yellow-orange origin and fades into a nice orange. Is this something that has changed between blender versions or did you leave something out of the tutorial?

You can take a look at the final nodes at 5:18 and you will see the X location value to be 0. Oops sorry, I thought this comment was for a different video. Because it is using particles getting an animation in to unity would be quite hard. I would recommend recreating in unity.
