Beginner's Guide To Price action - How To Find Trendlines

Knowing where the proper trendlines occur is one of the most important skills a trader can learn.
Trendlines not only help us locate high probability setups but also help us to predict the trend reversal.
In this video I am going to share with you a step by step process to find the proper trendlines.
The only people who know where the market is heading are institutions. They are the ones who make the market move and our job as a retail traders is to follow their footsteps and get the piece of their movement. As a priceaction traders we need to find the most profitable ways to enter trades. The highest probability setups are 2nd entries at the key entry points.
Date September 13 2021
Key entry points are:
1) Trendlines - after a break we expect a correction or retest of a new extreme
2) Support and resistance lines - most breakouts of trading ranges fail
3) EMA - 21 bar settings
The reason why we look for 2nd entries and not 1st or 3rd entries is tied directly to human psychology.
If you are interested in learning to day trade stocks, forex and futures SUBSCRIBE to the channel and I hope you enjoy the videos!
The best way to became consistantly profitable is to learn to read the chart in its purest form. There is no holy grail or set of indicators that can make you rich without work. Learning to understand how prices move and why they move is a learnable skill that anyone can achieve.
OUR PRICE ACTIONS RULES WORK IN EVERY MARKET AND EVERY TIMEFRIME.
Priceaction is universal and technical analysis patterns repeat over and over again on consistent basis.
Trading with a fear is the most common fear most trade have. It is crippling and can get your mind frozen. The key to consistancy is to be emotionless and fear nothing in trading.
Key rules of our strategy:
1) Second entried in the direction of a trend
2) Trendlines
3) Failed breakouts
4) Failed second entry counter trend
5) Support and resistance
Target Profit - 8-10 Ticks
Stop Loss - below signal bar (around 10 ticks)
Overall market context is more important than individual patterns.
Technial analysis works and it repeats over and over.

    Hi Thomas, Thank you very much for another great video. In my opinion, this is the most valuable video of yours so far that I have watched. It deserves MASTER on the thumbnail title for sure. The new thing that I have learned and will adopt in my analysis is drawing narrow short-term trendlines on correction channels. PS I have posted an article in the Facebook group that I am a member of about PA analysis and how to draw bigger and bigger trend channels. Friday's PA was great for that lesson. However, today's PA is really great too. Cheers mate.

    I've tried to apply this to 5 minute timeframes on certain stocks, but its extremely hard to draw lines around the opening, and throughout the day might be one or two lines is play. Further the second entries are rare on a higher timeframe, I assume this only works for 1 minute timeframe and lower? Am I wrong?

    Thank you Thomas. Question: Whenever there is a channel and a countertrend break, we expect a new extreme. However when there is a break (overshoot) in the same direction of the channel what do we expect?

  • @ThomasWade

    @ThomasWade

    Жыл бұрын

    I have a video about that, trendline mastery. You expect stronger correction at first. You expect another break of the trendline. However you are still learning towards prices making new extreme of the current trend that had overshoot. That was the main trend. You are observing how strong the correction after overshoot is and paying attention to the EMA. If uptrend has overshoot. You expect stronger bearish correction. Then if you push back above the EMA, you expect new high for the main uptrend.

    Hi Thomas, thank you for this lesson. At 27:40 you called the green bar a 2el but doesn't this bar have to trigger above price of the top of the previous bar 1 tick to be considered a long? I believe this is what you said about the 2es at 27:26. Sorry for my confusion and thank you again for your teachings.

  • @ThomasWade

    @ThomasWade

    Жыл бұрын

    That bar is 2EL. It doesn't have to trigger above the prior bar. Important is that the signal bar had a trigger above it's high. We care about breaks above/below the signal bars. The signal bars themselves don't have to break the prior bar high/low for us to consider it second entry.

  • @ThomasWade

    @ThomasWade

    2 жыл бұрын

    You did the right thing. Number one you scale down so you feel comfortable. Number two you can put limit order further back, but you will miss few trades like this. When the market volatility really picks up I go for 10 ticks. Other than that there is nothing much else to do about that. You can go to lower tick charts but I there can be more fakeouts so be careful. Also if you are really uncomfortable about the risk, just switch to sim for few days. There is nothing wrong with that. You will still get the experience.

    Thomas, do you think can it be good to use fibo golden levels in swing retracements? You just wait until two pushes fails in the opposite direction of the trend. Of course, using all the Pats rules, just using this like more confirmation. (I think at 16:50 high to 17:05 low move will be useful to catch the huge drop after). But you can think about the failed retest of the broken channel too :D

  • @ThomasWade

    @ThomasWade

    2 жыл бұрын

    I have never paid too much attention to fibos so I honestly don't know. But I know lot of traders are using them and they have the same idea as you. There may be something to it. Problem with fibs is that you never know where to draw them correctly.

    Another question.. At 24:36 you say it's a second entry short fail. I see the second entry short but it looks like it would have worked for a scalp. Why then it is considered a failed second entry? Am I misunderstanding something? Is it because the most recent action is uptrend? Thanks

  • @ThomasWade

    @ThomasWade

    2 жыл бұрын

    Second entry short already made a scalp correct. But we can treat it as a failure. Because traders are expecting this short to move past scalp. So we treat it as a failure when first bar in opposite direction appears. Opposite direction of 2ES was bulish bar. So it is ok if it reaches scalp we can still treat it like a trap. Of course the move cannot go too far and below EMA.

That small part itself play important role in my decision making. The bigger picture/ context maybe give a different trade idea . That's my problem. New extreme means new high for uptrend or new low for downtrend. Because if there is a trendline and break, close outside, we expect another move in the direction of previous trend, to create new high of the market in uptrend and new low in the market in downtrend.

    Shadows? You mean wicks? You can use wicks too, espeially in bigger patterns but in short term correction every inch counts and you need to make them tight as you can so you see the break and a new extreme. But wheter to use wicks or bodies can be subjective and it comes down to experience.
