It's awesome to have recent guides for this! I was just thinking of trying the game out. It's really a shame that such a good game (after the updates) was essentially abandoned. At least there's a relatively strong community still going with mods etc.

Hopefully they turn out helpful! I'm making every topic I can think of, cause I love this game. It's my favorite paradox game since Vicky 2.

@@KonglomeratYT I just love the setting, such a shame that it isnt being developed by paradox anymore. I bought it at launch but didnt really have much time to play it back then.

It feels like a very complete game to me. Even without owning any of the DLCs. I wouldn't necessarily worry about it being abandoned. At least it keeps the price down =P

@@KonglomeratYT good to know :)
29:32 Regarding the extra E, BCE stand for "before the common era", it's counterpart being CE, or "Common Era". Historians came up with it because the terms "Before Christ" and "Anno Domini" (BC & AD) were considered too Christian-centric. Anno Domini is Latin and translates to "In the year of our lord", making it especially Christian. Personally I find it a bit silly, as they only changed the terms and not the actual logic behind the dates. After all, the year "0 CE" is still the date that Christians believe that Jesus Christ was born in.

This "Common" calendar has a 0 in it? Cause I know the normal calendar goes from 1 BC to 1 AD with no 0. So does that mean it's always 1 year off once you hit AD with this one paradox put in? That sounds even more confusing XD

@@KonglomeratYT Nah, that’s my bad. I keep forgetting 0 isn’t a year!

For rather boring arithmetic reasons related to converting between Julian and Gregorian, Jesus is traditionally held to have been born in ... 4AD. This is independent of arguments placing the "true birth year of Jesus" up to 6 AD based on context clues in the Bible. I imagine someone post-ww2 saw an opportunity for secularism and it caught on.
This is a great guide that explains the basic systems unlike other guides.

Glad it helped! I tried to vaguely cover basically everything. Let me know if going in-depth on anything in a separate guide would help!

@@KonglomeratYT Honestly I was just looking at how the game works as I play CK3 but I may pick it up in the future.
Thanks for this guide, I just picked this game up in the winter sale. Excited to get playing it.

Been on a massive CK3 & 2 kick. Mainly playing Roman restoration or GOT runs. I have the mod that plays the OST from this game in CK 3 and I forgot I had this game in my library so I thought I watch your vid then try it

Update: holy crap compared to CK3 there is a lot of menu and reading but I like how detailed it seems so far. Thanks to your guide Imperator with Invictus mod added on seems more digestible

Yes sir. This is "straight out of the box". Any new player launching the game for the first time will have exactly what I show in all of my guides. There are zero DLCs, mods, or beta patches used.
nice guide. btw that bce in the date stands for before common era. idk why they don't just say christ but that's it if you are wondering.

Thanks! Glad it was helpful to you. I'm doing my best to add to the playlist to explain all the things I can think of that I've noticed my own community needing help learning. And yeah it's come up in a couple of comments so far lol.
You kept saying hearts of iron, but I believe you meant EU?
@KonglomeratYT

This game has a bit of all of their main series so I likely referred to all of them. Off the top of my head I know I referred to the trading and resources as being EU-like. The military organization system with how battle lines play out I'd reference HOI3. And pops I'd reference Vicky 2.

BCE means Before common era, it is the same as BC, but generally more Inclusive in its use :)
bce means before common era and is used by atheist when describing history, great general overview btw

@@KonglomeratYT lol yeah, it was more of an agreement because bc is kind of weird when for example talking about indian history where christianity never had any major roles in their society I understand where you're coming from, IMO paradox tutorials on yt are a must if you want to learn any paradox game, especially because every one of their games can overwhelm any newcomer, so it's nice that people like you take the time and help explain certain things further :)

@@brodacx2268it’s just the nature of things. The sky daddy cult invented everything until the enlightenment and then Europe did that thing they did for 300 years so everyone adopted it. I’m more surprised that other cultures didn’t try to BCE cope thing. I think China uses a system based on the Maoist revolution.

Kind of strange to de-Christian-ise the date in the game where it ends near the time Christ is born.

its actually not used by atheists, it was created and is used by Orthodox jews to de-colonize western academia

What do you not understand?
BCE (Before Common Era) is a secular version of BC (before Christ).
