For us dumbs, a video of the how to use the Comparator would be helpful.

How about a video to show the proper way of using and READING the New Hornady Click Adjust Seater? Example: I'm measuring 2.20" C.O.L. but looking at the numbers on my seater don't read 2.20". Why are the numbers there?

Awesome, thank you. I've only loaded less than 50 rounds so far but I don't understand why 1 in 5 or 10 will seat to a few thou different depth. Everything is locked down and the powder isn't compressed. 22-250, 60 gr V-max, Varget.

Base to ogive, or base to tip measurement?

Take out your box of bullets and measure a hand full of the projectiles from base to tip and you'll find variation that likely explains the variation of your cartridge overall length (COAL). For variation in cartridge base to ogive (CBTO) measurements, this is probably due to the bullet seating stem (that's inside of your seating die) being a smaller diameter than the ogive comparitor tool.

Some of the best help to a new reloader is available on the Johnny's Reloading Bench youtube channel. He has a 6 video playlist for 22-250 and hundreds of other videos on a variety of calibers.

Thanks for your replies guys. Base to tip measurements. Occasionally, I had to screw the seating depth adjuster in a bit to get the quoted COAL, and then I'd have to re-set it again as the following loads would be too short. I'll have a look at Johnny's Reloading bench now, it's been a few years since I've watched his videos and I didn't realise he has a good range on 22-250.

@@jasyamaha Factory ammo and even factory match ammo all have variation in COAL for the same reason you're seeing it in your reloads. The COAL measurement is really only a target average measurement with an acceptable +or- tolerence. So long as all your rounds fit into your magazine, don't bother chasing perfection in COAL...all other more important measurements are consistent if you're not changing your die setting. If you do chase COAL in every single round and are constantly changing your die setting, what you're actually doing is seating the projectile inconsistently, which can affect chamber pressure and velocity and it can lower the quality of the ammo that you're producing. The only way to get near perfection in COAL is to get into bullet sorting, bullet trimming, and bullet pointing like Erik Cortina and F-Class John talk about on their youtube channels, but if you're not shooting PRS matches or 1000yd targets you won't see a benefit from doing extreme stuff like trimming and pointing bullets. COAL inconsistencies is why folks chose to instead measure CBTO using a bullet ogive comparator. CBTO measurements are more precise and repeatable.

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Hebrews 9:27) Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:7) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13) The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. (Psalms 34:18)
