Hi Ozzie, I picked up a CMI SS7 from Northside Locksmiths after watching your earlier CMI safe review. Very happy with the build quality and overall presentation. Pro tip: If QPS do show up on your door step and want to inspect your weapon safe, you are lawfully allowed to delay that inspection if you were just about to ‘go pick up the Missus’. This will allow you to arrange another time and ensure your kit is properly stored before inspection. Keep up the quality work mate.

@@ozziereviews I bought the CMI SS14-D shortly after seeing your review (I think it was R7C-KCB vid?). Otherwise I'd have gone Spika SFB2. The clincher? Hypothetical question at a safe supplier, "I've passed away, estate gets lawful authority to open the safe, what do you charge" - and we looked at different safes. "Most" level 2 safes were ~ 1 hr labour (+ callout fee) "approx" $500 for a safe fitter to open them. CMI safe? At *LEAST* A DAYS work to open, IF they could get it open same-day still talking $2k fee. I was assured a brute force attack that broke a level 2 safe wouldn't come close to opening a CMI. ps, they are now made in China (full disclosure from CMI), but quality checked in Australia.

That's a hassle having to take bolts out and open actions. I'd have a pile of 12 bolts somewhere. I guess it makes things safer... In Victoria you just need to store the ammo separately. We do however have random police inspections with no notice which I believe is not the norm.

No expert, but I dont think so. The safest way for all states is to install a lockable steel box bolted to the floor or frame. if ever going to to use a chain, at least to lock the gun directly to a solid fixing, not the pelican case. But I think that only works in USA, not in Australia.

Never removed or left bolts open on my rifles or actions open on my shotguns stored in my safe in W.A. when i had a Glock 34 handgun, it was just mag out and in its case, with action/slide closed. Storing it with the action open would not be great for the guide rod spring I imagine. I've just always maintained a common sense safety check standard when removing firearms from the safe, of cycling the action and a visual check.

  • @conservativesniperhunter7439

What ridiculous legislation to have to have the bolts removed, that’s a sure way to weaken the bolt springs so when you travel hundreds on kms to your hunting grounds and take a shot game your bolt spring might have weakened enough to not be able to fire the rifle . This could potentially be a danger to the shooter if the firing pin doesn’t impart enough impact to the primer to fire a cartridge if you pull the trigger when up close to say a big boar or a scrub bill or buffalo up north . Utter madness in my humble opinion.
