Great to see James Beck AND Arnold Ridley!!!!! Just about a year or two before wonderful Dads Army started . We’ve lost a huge amount of talent, never to be replaced

Having said that, I’m sure Dads Army’s first series started in ‘67 so it’s the same year as this show . I think Dads army had a Hiatus of a couple of years thereafter, before a second series was commissioned . What a waste of those two years without Dads!!! Just imagine, we’ve probably been denied a glorious extra 12 episodes in those two years !

Couldn’t bare Dad’s Army due to the captain’s inflated ego, and Beck was a bragger, Ridley owed money, so had to work later in life, hence Army.

I reckon Reg Varney must have had 'free breakfast' written into his television contracts. I've never seen an actor eat as many has him in all the programmes he's been in.

It always makes me laugh that he played a 53 year old man who lived with his mum in 'On the Buses' and yet was portrayed as a sex symbol that all the 'birds' were after!

Can’t remember this, although was 11 in 67, they all now dead in this episode, a sad fact of life, Reg with his inflated ego, Pat with man’s legs, I once fancied June, Peter was a strange man, strange cast for this episode.

What's amusing is that 1933 Morris would have been a classic back when this was made. It'd be like owning a Ford Capri today, even if it wasn't in the best of condition it'd have still been quite desirable to a collector. But script writers and tv people don't know about these things, they just see something as old as junk, because they're use to buying new cars as soon as they come out. Quite a good sitcom, never seen it before, heard it mentioned by older people many years ago,so thought I'd look it up on yewtoob

I actually did a quick search on the British Newspaper Archive website to see what £40 bought you in 1967 and you actually had quite a choice of mid 50s cars. Standard Vanguards, Ford Anglia 100Es and Consuls, Hillman Minxs, A40 Somersets. Probably not in the best condition by that time but certainly better for everyday travel than the 20s Morris shown here.

@@betaman7988 40 quid was a lot of money back then, not many working class people could afford cars. Those semi detached houses look middle class.
