Indie Film Director Takes a Shot at Star Wars

Ойын-сауық

Episode 7 will be releasing tonight and I have a good idea what its going to show us, another flashback paired with Episode 3, the most divisive chapter of the Acolyte so far. In this video we take a look at the director of episode Kogonado and what he can bring to the franchise. We also theorize about what will happen tonight.

Surprisingly I found quite a lot of non-toxic reviewers, mostly people that are actual SW channels/fans; they recognized the problems with the show but a giving it time to tell its story. As well as a lot of fan theory speculation. Before this I would've said SW had the worse fans but clearly that's the loud minority casting that cloud

Seriously they wouldn’t get near as much hate - unlike Game of Thrones where most people haven’t read all the books and the lore is kinda of vague there is a lot of speculation and really cool conversations, with Star Wars there is such a complete detailed lore that anything that “ruins” your child hood favorite comic, book, media, etc. is fair game for hate

I strongly agree with this. I think both the Marvel and Star Wars Shows are better off with a binge format. I understand that you get more engament by spreading them out but none of the episodes are long enough to get much out of them. Regarding Kogonata and his talk of extras, you gotta watch the ritual scene again, there are two black hooded figures flanking the ritual near the dark side looking hole, they are included in many shots, one particular one almost is an over the shoulder shot of one hooded figure while the other takes up a third of the screen. They do not participate in the ritual and only react when the twins appear and when the jedi are mentioned. The camera cuts away at the mention of the jedi and when it comes back the two figures are gone. Watching it back with this after this was pointed out, they are very clearly, in my opinion, the two sith lords, having some interest in the twins and the force magic used to create them and indoctrinate them into the coven. Honestly the 3rd episode was pretty great for me and a look into alternative interpretations of the force and more passive, well meaning uses of the dark side has been something I've wanted to see for a while. The negative response has been crazy and I don't think it would have happened if Qimir or Yord were the lead characters. Been looking forward to episode 7 and been enjoying the fair and reasonable coverage by Generation Tech.

I'm not mad at the unreliable narration, just the execution. So far, the script feels more like a 1st draft with parenthetical all over saying (beef this up, explain, rewrite dialog) that were never circled back to and went straight into production, especially the dialog. Granted, I'm an author and former developmental editor so my take is likely different than many reviewers, and I'm holding my review and evaluation of the storytelling aspects (separated but not dovorced from the acting and directing) until the series is finished, but there have been some choices made visually that I've taken note of and find disappointing.

I am a VERY opinionated person, fan of the old canon more than the Disney canon, and quite dislike a LOT of the new things put out. And I like this show. It's interesting. I like a good mystery. I'm also very sick of people judging the show for having such a "bad plot" when we don't KNOW the full plot yet. You cannot judge a mystery until you have the solution. Only then can you see if it was worth it, if the foreshadowing was good enough to figure it out, if the solution satisfies the setup. I actually think this show is on par, and maybe slightly higher, than Ahsoka. Definitely higher than Kenobi or Book of Boba Fett. Lower than Mandalorian, and Andor... is a league of its own.

I have autism. my sister has bpd. we said horrible things to each other all the times, she got me involved with creepy men. she claims to still love me everyday. she was never psychotic, but people love to throw illnesses and labels around like you know what your talking about. she was just mentally ill 8 year old with no emotional regulation, not understanding stranger danger and getting into drugs. did you ever take the time to consider Osha and Mae may not be healthy kids given they are force sensitive children (the force is well documented to be corrupting like drug addiction) who were raised by dark side witches? I used to cut my arms open and had to be rushed to the hospital because of what you would call small disagreements. according to you, my autism and ptsd behavior is psychotic. I bet you think you know the solution too. but you don't, you come off as the type of person who would have seen my sister and I as monsters and try to drop us off as someone elses problem at the drop of a hat. Mental institutions, kicking us out to the street, prison, anywhere other than your own home. Luckily my parents didn't do that and now we are both happy and successful adults. my sister even has to kids who are surprisingly healthy minded. I'm glad your kids are happy and healthy normal 8 year olds. It means you took care of them well. But it also means you probably had the easiest kids, with good genetics, as to not have to face these problems that people are telling you is normal to them. TLDR - that's because Mae and Osha aren't healthy kids. they are force sensitives raised by dark side witches. unhealthy children existing in media is not bad writing. calling their behavior psychotic and sociopathic is armchair therapy. you have no qualifications to do that, you are not a therapist. at least I hope your not. because I would hope a parent of 4 healthy kids would be raising them with compassion and not ableism.

A fully warranted pre-watch video, everyone please watch all of this. This series isn't perfect but the rage-campaign isn't being fair to it in any sense. I feel all I need to say is "Hitchcock" or appeal to the classic mystery genre. Star Wars is so campy I can't believe people get offended by what they think is positioned radical left content. No, all the content is in fact not that, despite the personal politics of whoever. There aren't messages meant to indoctrinate. Its a good old campy space opera, plus classic mystery/unreliable narrative, plus excellent action, and surprisingly excellent writing and craft in the extras. This KZreadr made this video to draw attention to tonight's episode, not to spoil but to get in a frame of mind to appreciate potential quality in it by highlighting the director. Yes, there are a few flaws in the series, but in whole it is a lot better than expected. I'm really drawn in, I didn't expect to watch any of The Acolyte but now I'm hooked.

I would assume that Amanda's performance was intended to be this way. If it wasn't I would imagine that she would have been given notes by the directors to give a different performance. Scenes are also usually filmed multiple times with different takes on the performances so that they can choose which tone they like better in post-production. I also think they wanted the performances of Mae and Osha to be similar because there are a couple of times characters interacting with them need to think they are interacting with the other twin for a bit.

I do think think that casting Amandla as twins was a mistake, but I think she’d have done perfectly well if she’d only played one of them. I’m actually perfectly fine with how she portrays Mae, because Mae is a bit like Reva from Kenobi: half dangerous scary killer and half confused traumatised kid, and I think Stenberg conveys both sides of Mae pretty well. But I think she’s slipped up on Osha, she started off well there too, in the first two episodes she did well in portraying the personality differences of the two but episode 4 onwards Osha has effectively become “Not Mae”, and while her mood darkening somewhat at having to face her past traumas is somewhat understandable I think they went too far in that direction to the point where the characters barely feel any different.

I legit like the acolyte show, I wish more people would just watch it and go "Coooool" like I did, or just shut up if they didn't. That's why I like this channel, you are critiquing respectfully without throwing anal-extract at the same time.

2:42 I think the, “Fine, but I’m not wearing the civilian clothes.” And then it cuts to her in the civilian clothes part was a bit unnecessary. Still think it’s the 3rd best live action Star Wars show.

If people really unsub because you said liked ONE episode, that's honestly pathetic and a good indication that nothing of value was lost. Those people would rather live in an echo chamber than possibly entertain the idea someone might like something they don't.

@@Motard.Actual hey it's your opinion, at the end of the day you should be allowed to have it. It's the people who scream at you and tell you you're wrong because you liked something that ruin the community and make it miserable to be a fan at times. I still feel book of boba has been the worst show we've gotten, this isn't my favorite but I've found it enjoyable. Hopefully whatever comes next will be enjoyable to both of us 🤙

@@iliadnetfear2586 In my experience with comments sections dealing with this show, I conclude that there are basically 3 main groups of people. Reasonable people that think the show is mid to good, reasonable people that think the show is bad, and the alt-right. Only one of those groups is gonna unsub over him not hating one episode.

@@F0XD1E I unsubed to him over this. I was subscribed since 2015, and I unsubbed last week. Is it because I'm a racist, or just evil? I could tell you WHY I unsubbed, but that's only if you haven't already made up a firm mind on other people's motives.
