    I appreciate your vid! I’m bit confused. Do you think the Bass Player and Keyboard Player can be added to an existing project and AI will detect the key and bpm of your project? Or are these Players more useful for starting a project from scratch? 😮

  • @SvenTydemanMusic

    @SvenTydemanMusic

    23 күн бұрын

    Wowsers good question! And thanks for your kind words. I am glad you liked the video! My thoughts will depend on a few things: Are you referring to a song you have recorded in an earlier version of Logic and are wanting to open that in the new version? If so, then I believe (but I haven’t got the software to check) the project will keep your existing bpm and you would be able to add session players to your project. ATM if you don’t have the tempo of the song - you could use the BPM plugin to check the tempo. Or is your song free tempo? Which brings up a really interesting question, how will session players react to free tempo??? 😳 🤣 :)

    @@SvenTydemanMusic Thanks for replying, just subscribed! When I update Logic Pro for the iPad, my HOPE is that I can drop Bass Player or Keyboard Player on an existing Logic project with recorded audio tracks. If Bass Player can add a baseline to my pre-existing audio tracks from my external synths and match the key and tempo that would be incredible! I’d imagine Bass Player could do that with pre-existing MIDI tracks on a project since the MIDI data hasn’t been rendered to audio. I guess I’ll find out on Monday, too excited now thinking of the possibilities!! 🤩

  • @kitespongan

    Sorry if that’s confusing haha. I often sequence my external synths from an external sequencer and record the audio onto a track in Logic. But for VST3/Auv3 instruments already sequenced from within my Logic project I’d again hope and imagine that Bass Player could easily add a bass line in key and in tempo. Right? ✌️

    Hi :) great question! The website does not stipulate minimal hardware requirements re: performance, but does give minimal OS requirement (MAC OS Ventura 13.5 and later) + storage requirements (6 gig for minimal installation and 72 gig space need for the full sound library). support.apple.com/en-us/111899 I believe that what you are purchasing will have enough guts to give you a solid performance. Just make sure you have adequate storage (preferably on a SSD drive). I have a Mac Studio M1 and I am expecting (hoping lol) that when I upgrade there won’t be any performance issues.

    Can we change the sound of session players - Oh man that’s a good question!!! In answer to that question and without having actually used Logic Pro 11, Id say that we would be able to use 3rd party plugins. Currently we can change drummer as it is just a plugin. If I am smashing out a demo and I use drummer (I have XLN audio and a few other drums and I also like programming) - then I will use the regions and the controls available. When I want to take more creative control - say I want to change a fill just to snares, I convert to midi (once I have pretty much everything I want) and tweak the part. Just a little tip :) If you use 3rd party plugins (which I think you will be able to, as it really is just midi information) Just keep in mind that you may need to alter the midi map to achieve your desired results.

    What synths do you use mostly? I noticed the interface for the synths look the same. Not sure if they’ve added any extra functionality under the hood?

    I think it absolutely has the potential to mean that everyone will sound the same - however I pondered on your question for a while! Some thoughts: All session Players is essentially, is a tool. With that premise in mind - I am sure it will be overused with like any tool to start with, but is is essentially any different to an Apple Loop? We all use the same 12 notes in a chromatic scale - chord progressions are pretty much similar, etc…but yet we can all still sound vastly different. As I mentioned I think there will be an overuse but then people will just use it like a tool (hopefully). I don’t feel musicians will be out of work either! Just my thoughts :)

    @@SvenTydemanMusic I think you're right. I'm just depressed on where music is going or maybe where mainstream music is going. I was writing from a dark place:) Don't wanna spread negativity. Sorry for that. Thanks for your reply.

    I hear you!! However we have been using technology to create music for decades. This does feel different and definitely a game changer though. I remember I got at tuning vocals and people would come to me just to tune vocals, I felt like the level of musicianship dropped, I actually CRAVED to hear a solid performance with absolutely NO tuning whatsoever. I think maybe things will go a little too perfect for a while and then balance out again.

    I see it as McDonald and food chain industry vs cooking chef. If you see music as industry, it's created with technology. If you see music as art, it's created with human passion.

    I've been using Logic since the 90s. This update is for making money off new beginner users NOTHING HERE for pro users. Like in BIitwig, Live 12, or Reaper. I was waiting for this update to see if Apple understands it's core users and sadly they do not. So I'll be switching DAWs probably to Bitwig. BTW very clickbaity title. so I won't be subscribing to your channel.

    Hey grumpy long time user. I too have been using Logic many years, and fondly remember emagic days in the mid eighties when all it offered was midi. Thankfully it’s developed into an amazing tool, which offers an incredible range of options and possibilities…..but to damn it just because new features happen to make it easier for less experienced users, I feel sorry for you. It’s also been a decade since Apple asked anyone to pay for an upgrade…… I can’t think of many developers who have offered this……. You don’t have to use the new features, but if it enhances any of my projects, then it’s a thumbs up from me. Phfffff.

    @@rossdonald594I'm not grumpy but disappointed I also remember the emajic and Notator, steinberg with a DAT Backup days Today own the new MaC M1 Studio fully loaded. I was hoping the Apple would try to keep up with the very cool stuff happening on the other platfoms. But instead they are head totally in the opposite direction. So am I suppose to be a corny fan boy. Or do what's right for my creative soul power. Everyone already uses Scaler 2, and Kontact bass. And really who needs another saturation plugin. Phfff.

    Hi there, will you be moving across to a different DAW? If you are, I’d be interested to know which one you’d go to. Re: original title - it’s changed due to feedback and I take that onboard and will remember that for future videos! My sincerest apologies - I actually wasn’t meaning for it to offend but just to give some advice.
