Before They Were Famous: Walt Disney World Railroad

Фильм және анимация

Today, we take a look back in time to Central Mexico where several Baldwin locomotives (two 4-6-0s, one 2-6-0 and one 4-4-0) were working vigorously not knowing their future would change forever thanks to one Roger E. Broggie. Although the 4-4-0 shown is not exactly the same as Roy O. Disney, these are the direct relatives of the Baldwin engines we know today. This is also a great example of how an engine is "reborn" into a new chapter in life; how fitting for Easter Sunday. Hope you enjoy and Happy Easter!

1:11 350 looks like an 1890s high drive American that would make some people to mistook for the 999. Shame this engine hadn’t been preserved. Be amazing if it did, and being from Mexico is a bonus for history. If the WDW R.R. are going get a 5th loco, it’s either a civil war design or Ripley’s design. Either way this good one. Edit: 1:28 I take it back from looking like the 999, actually this engine is more closer to Wilmington & Western no. 98 or Detroit, Toledo & Ironton no. 16.

Wow! I didn’t know actual footage existed of the WDWRR locomotives before Disney bought them, all I’ve seen are fuzzy B&W photos. I’m curious what year this was shot cause at 0:36 those wood sided passenger cars were quite antiquated for the time, being they have no clerestory or vestibules. If I had to guess they look to be around 1860s-1880s range, although I wouldn’t be surprised if they were newer

To be fair, these particular engines are the WDW's sisters and cousins. I'm pretty sure it was filmed in the '60s just before their acquisition by Roger Broggie and just after (my guess would be the former not the latter). And if you think about it, in Mexico, Latin America and Cuba they were using all of our old equipment for decades! So I wouldn't be surprised if the passenger cars were from the Antebellum hahaha

@@WaltsNephew It's also a fact that during WW2 the US Government wanted to destroy and cut up most old locomotives for scrap. Hollywood saved them by purchasing them and putting them in movies. Just think about it. If that hadn't happened we would only know of these old locomotives through old pictures of them. Walt's Nephew I'm not sure but these steam locomotives that you showed on this video, showing their before life before their new life for the Magic Kingdom railroad aka the Walt Disney World Railroad. From their Beginnings like I saw from this video, along with their nowaday lives at Walt Disney World in the Magic Kingdom. Are all four of the steam locomotives from their early days and a new life at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, from both territories are they Narrow Gauge steam locomotives ? Because I'm sure that Magic Kingdom railroad cast members said that the steam locomotives are Narrow Gauge, from the early days and along with the Walt Disney World Railroad. I can't remember completely but I really want to know if the steam locomotives are Narrow Gauge, and if the Walt Disney World railroad is also Narrow Gauge. I forgot completely, that even though a lot of people say that the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World is bigger than Disneyland. I am not sure if the Walt Disney World railroad is standard gauge or Narrow Gauge, because the Disneyland Railroad and their steam locomotives and train setups are Narrow Gauge as well

What's Nephew someday if Walt Disney imagineering would build a new area for Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World, and if that area would become like Frozenland complete with hopefully three rides. And if the area would be a replica of the kingdom of Arendelle from the Frozen franchise. If they would have the idea to have a railroad station for that area, and probably closed down and tear down the Fantasyland station. Currently located at storybook circus, and that the trains would permanently service Fantasyland with a new Fantasyland station directly located in a possible Frozenland. What would you say if something like this were to happen to expand something new for Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, as well as a brand new Fantasyland station for that idea ? Of course I believe storybook circus would still remain as part of Fantasyland, but if they were to build Frozenland at the behind and of the theme park. And they decide to build a New Fantasyland station location for that area, and it would be a permanent train station stop for all of the trains. And they would tear down and close Fantasyland station near storybook circus, what would you say to this idea at the same time ?

@@WaltsNephew I hope so. Because as you know Walt Disney imagineering wants to build Frozen lands for some of the other Disney theme parks, and now they want to try to do a new one for Disneyland. I know you heard about the new Disneyland Resort expansion. I just hope the city of Anaheim will say yes to Disney, because so far there had been who knows how many businesses in Anaheim that they've lost during the pandemic. And they said that the city of Anaheim is relying on Disney to do something new, so businesses in Anaheim mainly Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue will increase again. As long as Disney will do something new, with a brand new plans of new connections for Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Including a brand new shopping, dining and entertainment Resort Hotel. So it could replace the Toy Story parking lot. So very soon way ahead in the near future Maybe, I can hardly wait for Disneyland to get a new Frozenland. Including a brand new Tangledland. But for Walt Disney World mainly the Magic Kingdom, I'm hoping that they will build a new area at the other end of Fantasyland in the back part of the theme park. And I hope that will be a new Frozenland for the Magic Kingdom, and at the same time I hope they can read locate the Fantasyland station into the Frozenland area. Because if I ride those trains of the Magic Kingdom railroad aka the Walt Disney World Railroad, and if I want to go to Fantasyland. I would rather experience the magic, imagination, and fantasy of a Disney fairytale Kingdom. Rather than a circus area, and the kingdom of Arendelle is the answer. And I would be very happy to get off the trains for a new relocated Fantasyland station, in the middle of Frozenland only at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. And as you know Frozen is one of the big money-making franchises of Disney, and little by little the franchise is growing. Not just with toys, dolls, storybooks and all of the merchandise. But the Frozen franchise is trying to grow with brand new movie shorts, and there is also an animated series starring the little snowman himself Olaf. But very soon I hope to see more Frozen animated shorts, featurettes and who knows how many animated series. Maybe 3 Frozen animated series. Where the first Frozen animated series can take place before the first Frozen movie, the second Frozen animated series to take place after the first Frozen movie and before Frozen 2. And finally a third Frozen animated series, that could take place after Frozen 2. Those are the only ideas that I want to see very soon, so the Frozen franchise can grow. Of course everybody including myself want a Frozen 3, but we'll have to wait a long time on that one. So anyway from their Frozen is one of the big money-making franchises of Disney since 2013, and because of that. That's why Walt Disney imagineering is trying to make some frozenlands for their theme parks, I can hardly wait for one Frozenland for Disneyland, and I'm really hoping for a frozenland for the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. And hopefully they can relocate Fantasyland station from the storybook circus area, to a possible Frozenland area of Fantasyland👍😉❤

What's Nephew I'm definitely sorry to tell you this, but I think this could be a good idea. Because someday I hope that the two steam locomotives of the Magic Kingdom railroad aka the Walt Disney World railroad can get another change to their bodies, well if you part of their bodies. Just to let you know I like the perfect designs of number one the Walter E Disney and number two the Lilly Belle, I like the way they look. Especially the design of their tenders giving that American Western design of their tenders, and of course the stack of their funnels. For the Walter E Disney it has the giant Diamond stack funnel, and the Lilly Belle has a short Diamond stack funnel. I really like those designs of those two steam locomotives. However the other two steam locomotives number 3 the Roger broggie and number 4 the royal Disney, I kind of believe they need to get some redesigns on their funnels and one of the tenders as well. The Roger broggie should receive a brand-new tall stack funnel, and a new Circle and round shape headlamp. So that way the locomotive could look identical to the EP Ripley from Disneyland, except the wheels. And the 4th locomotive the Roy O Disney, should get another redesign for its funnel. So it's funnel could also be a tall stack funnel, but it can be a little short, rather than really tall like The Funnel of the EP Ripley. And also I believe it's tender should be redesigned as well, so it's tender can look like the original design of the tender from her early days. And of course the Roy O Disney, should also get a redesign for its headlamp as well. So the headlamp can look like a circle and round shape design, and altogether with these revamp designs for the locomotive. The Roy O Disney should resemble and to be like a replica of steam locomotives from the 1920s and the 1930s. If something like this ever happens someday for the Roger broggie and the Roy O Disney, where those two steam locomotives get revamp designs. The truth is I would like to see all 4 steam locomotives of the Magic Kingdom railroad aka the Walt Disney World Railroad, to represent the history changes of steam locomotives from the 1880s to the 1930s👍😉❤
