ye i hope you're right, listening to their previous clean vocalist Lars, this guy has alot of improving to do, at the moment im finding his voice a nagging frequency, sorry i know that sounds harsh

Idd, I'm glad Tuomas keep experimenting with his sound trying new things keeping it fresh. If he hadn't done this we wouldn't have all bangers from his other projects/ bands like 'Black Sun Aeon- Darkness Walks Beside Me', 'Before The Dawn- Rise of the Phoenix' leading up/paving the way to 'Wolfheart- Winterborn' and every release that followed. So yea, a resounding YES to change.

Totally unexpected. But I like it! Tuomas is an one man army, with incredible musical reinforcements. Looking forward for the album.

So glad that Toumas brought us back one of my favorite bands as teenager, really appreciate the more rooted song vibes for the early BTD's era

I am a fan for 20 years now and got more than a little bit excited when “The Final Storm” dropped almost to the day 2 years ago on the occasion of announcing the 2 decades of darkness anniversary vinyl of Deadlight. “They’re back” I thought and was anxiously awaiting news on a new album. As disappointing as it is for me that Lars does not seem to be part of the band any longer, he did deliver the vocals to two of my all time favourite songs ever “Sanctuary” and “Deadsong” , Paavo is so much more than just a replacement and from what I understand he landed this gig with a cover of Deadsong on The Voice Of Finland ? I am very , very excited for the new album 10 years after Before The Dawn were put on ice. Now all I need is the back catalogue released on Vinyl ;-)

Good points! In fact now when I listened the Sanctuary, that is also great song. The Deadsong is my top 1 song in entire world. I am a really sad, that Lars hasn't anymore on the lead vocals. I really like the tone of Lars. It would be nice to know the facts behind this move. Hopefully it's something practical, not in the relationships or something like that. I would love to hear Lars's vocals in metal genre, but now it does not look good. Maybe some good metal musicians could pick this really mature fruit and blow him to back to life!

Been a fan for many years, not just of BTD but Wolfheart, Dawn of Solace, and Black Sun Aeon. In my opinion, Tuomas is one of the best musicians on the planet right now. A master of lyrical and musical composition in this niche genre. I’m still very torn on Paavo, while i’m over the moon ecstatic that BTD is coming back, I do feel that something is missing. Not necessarily Lars but just something in general, maybe it’s just me. I’m still going to listen to this album 100%, buy the music, and support them no matter what. You can’t expect a band to basically be dormant for over a decade and come back and be the exact same.

well said. the vocals aren't very good just compared to the last single which was fantastic. it seems like maybe the mastering needs to be revisited. it's like there is some weird reverb over the vocals

I am having the same feeling. It's like meeting your old friend whom you haven't seen in a long time but he just ain't the same he used to be. I miss the old BTD with Lars (Soundscape of Silence and Deathstar Rising are my fav albums). I am enjoying the new 2 singles but something keeps me bringing back to the old BTD.

I just say that now BTD has a rough diamond 🤘, keep rocking Paavo! His voice has very wide range.

I'm so excited about Before The Dawn's new single! It's been a while since they released an album, but they haven't lost their style, and the quality of their music has only gotten better. The vocals are amazing, the guitar work is mind-blowing, and the whole song just flows so well. I can't wait to hear more from them. This is definitely a comeback worth waiting for! Before The Dawn is back and better than ever!

Nothing lasts forever - I was too pretty appalled when I first heard Paavo but I'm starting to like his voice a bit more every time I listen to this. BtD was on their heyday with Lars undoubtedly, but with Tuomas' songwriting I'm not condemning the new album yet.

@@andypaulsibakoff9816 his voice is great. But his intonation or whatever you want to call it of English is pretty horrible. As voice line not particularly great. If the song is written around clean vocals, they melody needs to be more interesting than this.

One of my favorite bands ever that won't sound the same again without Tuomas (and Lars) vocals. Not sure how they're gonna play old songs live? New guy will handle both vocals or they only will do new songs? Still can't shake off that disappointed I had after the fundamental changes were announced especially since Lars comeback for a single.. Still best of luck to guys, this new song sound instrumentally like Before The Dawn, but to me it's a new band.

IMO he sounds really well, It's true that Lars did very well and may be irreplaceable with what he did in BTD, but Paavo is a great vocalist and the band trusts him, I think we should give him all our support. Lars wasn't in Before the Dawn until The Ghost, though, and My Darkness and 4:17 a.m. are badass albums. But I get it, Lars's vocals were awesome and will be missed, but at the end of the day Tuomas is what makes all of his bands so good. It may sound different from the albums with Lars, but it's still brilliant music.

I need to chew on this a little bit. Definitely not impressed at the moment. People complain here about gatekeeping (which seems to be a favourite word among metalfans right now). I've been a fan of Before The Dawn since 2003 and I don't miss Lars that much. I liked Lars' vocals on The Ghost and Deadlight, but they started to lose momentum and freshness around 2011 and their rebirth without Lars in 2012 was great. I'm happy they're back and I don't mind Tuomas stepping back behind the drums. I'm all for fresh blood, but this guy's vocals are not for me. He sounds tired and uncommitted and the song is mediocre in their catalogue.
