    "I will go insane and I will take you with me!" is my favorite line. Catherine O'Hara is a treasure and she delights as Delia. So glad to hear she is returning for the sequel.

    Shadowcat, I'm so glad you watched this film.. They are FINALLY coming out with a sequel THIS September of 2024 (36 years after the original) that I am so excited about.. Michael Keaton is back as Beetlejuice, Winona Ryder is returning as Lydia, Catherine O'Hara is returning as Delia & they are gonna have Jenna Ortega be Lydia's daughter/Delia's granddaughter (which I think is a perfect casting choice after her recent roles in Scream 6, X, & the Wednesday TV series.. She definitely has the goth/horror vibe down pat.). So keep your eyes peeled for that this year as good of a time as you had with this film..❤

    Hey, Shadowcat! Michael Keaton is brilliant in this! Same actor played Batman a year later also directed by Burton. Beetlejuice and Batman are two of Keaton's signature roles. Yes, he ad-libbed a ton! Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis were the ghosts! Dick Cavett, a legendarily cerebral talk show host, was one of the guests who wasn't frightened. Jeffrey Jones, the dad, is the principal from "Ferris Bueller". Catherine O'Hara, the mom, is the mom from "Home Alone".

    Lydia Deetz was the original Emo girl. Everyone who grew up in the 80s had a total crush on Wynona Ryder thanks to this movie. EDIT: Michael Keaton ad-libbed a lot of lines in this movie, including when he kicked down the tree. That wasn't supposed to happen, and Keaton addlibbed "Nice f****n model!"

  • @shinyagumon7015
    @shinyagumon70159 ай бұрын

    The Set design is really cool, especially the Afterlife and the model Beetlejuice hangs out in. Fun Fact: Michael Keaton wasn't supposed to kick down the tree there so the "Nice fucking model" line was ad lipped. I also love how the ghosts are the normal ones while the people are the eccentrics. Also have you watched *The Nightmare before Christmas* ? It seems like it would be right up your Alley since it has a similar style to this but also includes Christmas in a big way.

    16:52 This is Michael Keaton in the comedic mold he had been _playing,_ up to this point. He had established a niche for himself as a comedic actor and it's my understanding that _this_ was the movie in which Tim Burton made his acquaintance. Burton would, about a year later, seek him out for the title character of the '89 _Batman_ movie, instead of the actors who had made a name for themselves as traditionally action _heroes._

    I didn't think you'd like Beetlejuice but I'm so glad you did! They're actually making a sequel, supposedly, with many of the same actors/characters. Here's a couple of other comedic horror movies you'd probably enjoy also. " The Frighteners" starring Michael J. Fox and "Little Shop of Horrors" starring Rick Moranis. Another funny movie that's not really a horror movie although one of the main characters is dead, is "Weekend At Bernie's". I don't think I've seen anyone react to that movie yet.

    This was a really fun, chill reaction/review to unwind to, and it came at just the right time. I've had a lot of big stressors and poor sleep lately, but my mom was able to come by and help with some stuff today. After she went home, I saw this in my recommended videos, clicked play and had a great time. That's two welcome positives in one day - more than I've had in a while. Thanks for the smiles and laughs! 😊 Have you ever seen The Crow, starring Brandon Lee? It's a fantastically stylish and surprisingly emotional supernatural tale with dark drama, true love and righteous revenge - all wrapped up with a shiny black bow. I recommend it to everyone during spooky season. And if you don't mind some b-horror blood 'n' guts, Tucker & Dale vs Evil is a very cleverly written and unique horror comedy with more charm, heart, humour and strong personal connections than most romcoms.

    The saturday morning cartoon of Beetlejuice was alot of fun too. They had to change it a bit... the ghost couple isnt there and Beetlejuice and Lydia are pals, rather than... you know.... an old corpse trying to marry a teenager. And most of the show takes place in the ghost realm, aka "The Neitherworld". The intro(s) for the cartoon are to this day some of the coolest animation ever. And Danny Elfman says this is his favorite score.

    When I saw this movie in the theater in 1988 I was neither expecting a movie like this or character like Beetlejuice. It was a great time, and the following Halloween l ended up going to an Oingo Boingo (soundtrack composer Danny Elfman's band) concert dressed up as him. I saw more than a few of us that night, and had great time basically role a obnoxious jerk.

    I like to point out that Beetlejuice, when he's in the realm of the living, is insanely powerful. He can alter reality with a thought. He can cancel an exorcism with an invisible putter. He can send other spirits to Sandwormland at will. This is a Legendary being! 😆
