È semplicemente perfetto. In ogni singola c'è una profonda, intima comprensione del pensiero musicale di Beethoven.

I like this interpretation. The musical text is very clear. It's a very good architectural vision. The tempo is probably not as furious as young pianists do it nowdays but i appreciate the whole febrile climate and atmosphere. And so good articulation, pianistically speaking !

I felt like the tempi were ironically right. Richter had a "fast and furious" version which also works, but in this Kempff version I can feel the anger accumulating.

Of course, Kempff was a student of a student of student of Beethoven. Let's see, his teacher was taught by Liszt, who was taught by Czerny, who was taught by Beethoven. If anyone has the right to play this with special insight, it's Kempff! But then he's not the only one...Claudio Arrau is another. But Arrau's tempo is much faster. I like it faster myself. But there is something special about every note Kempff plays!

The faster & harder hitting versions are like the expression of the explosion of rage. Kempff's version to me feels like the brewing of the (yet to be expressed) rage within the psyche. A more subtle & darker interpretation imo.

jbdoggy Interesting thought. How do you find Richter's recordings, particularly those around '59 and '60?

I think the fast & furious players especially the modern generation are all tryg to emulate the Richter 'model' as it were. How i arrvd at my thought was firstly the tempo was slower but yet fast enough to suggest an agitation or dis-ease. Nxt the slower tempo allowed the articulation of the notes esp the lower notes to be played with a more echoey effect making it sound darker. Combined effect = an expression of something internal rather than external.

Its still one dislike only, shows something so pure can not be hated, and if you can, then you are not living in the real...

Correcto. No lo pueden hacer por incapacidad intelectual y por incapacidad interpretativa. El mundo moderno es una muestra de decadencia absoluta en todos los planos: fisico, moral, intelectual, artistico.

Pity one can't see how many dislikes are there any longer. It's fun to know how many pricks there are around the globe.

Kempff is a legend, but I prefer Barenboim's interpretation of this piece.
