Beersheba Market (1955)

Beersheba, Israel.
Panning shot of a dusty market. M/S of several local men (Arabs?) loading camels into a truck. Various shots of the camels and of scenes in the market. M/S of two "nomads" crouched on the ground chatting. Various livestock is seen. One man lie on the ground and has a sleep. C/Us of camels. "The camel they know is better than a car they don't" says the narrator.
C/U of a woman who carries a young child on her shoulder. Narrator points out that the heavily veiled Bedouin women are extremely camera shy and that their menfolk regard it as the "evil eye". Doesn't stop Pathe getting some good shots of them though.
Various shots of the nomads weighing goods, counting money and doing deals.
