    Thank you for this great dive. Another wonderful clip with plenty of things to learn. I would like to ask a question. John Palmer in his Brewing Water Treatments from 2020 recommends maintaining parity of Ca(60%)and Mg(40%) for yeast health because according to him if there is too much Ca then the yeast can't get to the Mg. Could you please provide more info on why you propose 4:1 ratio between Ca and Mg.

    Yes, Palmer is right about that ratio for yeast health - but this isn't necessarily best for flavour. If magnesium is too high it can negatively impact flavour.

    Does this mean that you'd suggest adding magnesium and calcium direct to FV after KO, just like I already do with Zinc?

    Magnesium and calcium don't precipitate as much as zinc and are found in much higher abundance in water and wort, so it's less of an issue.
