This video is a great example of why, even as an ARB player, I'm here for the Squish takes. Even though you're enjoying the benefits of this update, you speak up about this being unhealthy for a game.

Healthy? This game is long dead. You just, probably, don't play long enough to see that. There's almost nobody from the core sim players from 10 years ago. That's no way to build a game.

@@colander1585 I don't think it's long dead. There are people that want to play sim. There are at least 1000 people that subscribe to my channel that are at least interested in it. But there is only one Air Sim game mode and it's just fundamentally unbalanced. It's been fundamentally unbalanced since I started playing...it was not great when it was MiG-23MLD vs F-14...but it was manageable. MiG-29 vs F-16A with original flight models was as balanced as top tier sim has ever been. MiG-29 had advantage in radar missile but disadvantage in IR missile. F-16 had the worse radar missile and the better IR missile. Flight model to flight model...MiG-29 was very strong in the first few turns, had better high speed handling...but the F-16 was more favored to win the longer fight. That balance was thrown out with the MiG-29SMT patch. MiG-29 flight models were nerfed. F-16 flight models had g limit removed. Playing the MiG-29SMT was the worst top tier experience possible...or so we thought. Germany got MiG-29G a patch after...and that sort-of worked because flight model wise it was much more competitive with R-73s. It wasn't good...but it was not the suffering of the 29 SMT. The last major update for air brought the Su-27, F-15, and Gripen. Aim-9M was still oppressive...but Su-27 flight model and sheer quantity of missiles allowed it to at least cope with even above average US players. Beating an Su-27 in a dogfight isn't hard but at least requires a deliberate attempt. The latest patch has been terrible for balance. Su-27 radar was nerfed through the scan pattern. The R-77 is much much worse than the Aim-120. Germany got an F4 Phantom for it's top tier. The Chinese Su-27 is even worse than the RU one because of RWR and less data link channels.

@@squishface80085 "There are people that want to play sim. " Yeah and there were ppl that "wanted to play sim" 10, 12 years ago, but GJ didn't care and kept doing shit. Germans are still (12 years) waiting for 25hp missing from the DB605DB engine, which GJ ruled "not a bug", because they can. They did the same shit with ICE, this patch, because they can. Similarly, GJ begun abusing its sim playerbase in general the way they abused Germany, because they can. The 1000 people you talk about are just people that aren't in WT for long. They'll leave soon enough. We had much more subs, CCs, sim channels and players, all of whom left WT, long ago. The only way for WT sim to make it work is giving it to another developer/publisher, which was a consensus 7-8 years ago, when I stopped playing WT seriously. Nothing changed since then, apart from GJ cumming all over their entire sim player base, instead of just German mains.

When it comes to 11.3 and 11.7 the MiG 23 nerf hurt the matchmaker even more than the multipathing. Before the patch these were great BR brackets to find good jet PvP action outside top tier since a lot of people played the MiG 23, and since it can't bomb very well they were there to actually fight you, now no matter which side you pick most lobbies are just people bombing.

The MiG-23 flight model nerf isn't the nail in the coffin... even in it's current form it is still superior to the F4E in a dogfight but getting to the end isn't just "deploy wing sweep and pull back" anymore...which in a vacuum would have been a pretty good change. Making the matchmaker so that anything with PD radar and Aim-7F and constantly fighting Magic IIs means that any plane in that BR bracket will just be very mediocre.

@@squishface80085 The problem isn't that the plane is unplayable, the problem is basic human psychology. People see nerf, they assume thing is trash now and stop playing it. Before the patch I could easily find lobbies with 5-6 23s doing PvP, now I rarely see more than a couple and they often leave after dying a few times.

@@pn2422 I don't think the majority of the playerbase is all that plugged into the WarThunder information-sphere as people like to think. Good players in Sim tend to migrate to whatever is good for the BR and the MiG-23 simply isn't it. And the other portion of the playerbase that is more casual is eating radar missiles like candy on at least 50% of days. Being punished for playing the game on the wrong day of the week is just not a fun gameplay mechanic.

@@squishface80085 Well, yes, my point was that MiG-23 being better than IRL was accidentally good for balance at those BRs, especially since it doesn't have a good bomb loadout, so they would actually PvP against you instead of the current snoozefest where 80% of my time is intercepting people bombing bases regardless of which side I pick.

I'm just ready for the new sim BR bracket to come 12.0 may actually be enjoyable. I agree 11.7 downtiers is completely broken in sim.

I really wish they allowed us to bind theottle axis for separate engines so we could properly split throttle if only to help turn a lil bit tighter

MiG-23MLD has been a surprisingly fun time for me recently. People are heavily underestimating MiG-23s at the moment and the MLD's flight model in conjunction with having almost not garbage rwr makes it pretty great against the average "im so him" mindset F-14A player and more than a threat to Mirage F1s. Mirage 2000s are a pain but they're ordinarily flown just badly enough that you can just pin them down and rate them till they crack and gorilla pull away their chances at winning. The radar's nerfed scan settings are an absolute bitch though, especially lacking the high altitude look down mode.

A lot of this could be solved by adding AI to the teams with less players. Even if they’re not shooting missiles and using countermeasures, they still appear on enemy radar and will make their lives difficult if they get to the merge which is often all the red team needs to get the breathing room necessary to get out of the airbase and gain the situational awareness needed to take the fight to the enemy. No, it’s far from perfect, but it would be a stopgap solution in the direction of making playing red aircraft less frustrating.

I would still be okay with being at a disadvantage playing weaker planes if there were no repair costs. It’s not fair to bankrupt yourself while facing opponents with much better aircraft.

Everyone spams F14 and 2000C, meanwhile the true OP gem, Gr7 with 9Ms and 600cms at 11.7 😅 Notching is still super easy in WT and flying at multipath height with harrier is easy too, especially if you pick up flat desert maps. That thing is insane even against mirages.

Totally correct. Gaijin are making way too much money to be delivering this trash. Even in RB if you are last alive with an F14 youre toast 9 times out of 10. Gaijin just wreck everything as they bounce from Boycott to Boycott. This game is not even a game, its some dudes business model.

I've played and had a blast with the F-14A since day one at all stages of it's life. Got tons of videos on it simply because I enjoy it so I play it more. (yes, even when it was always in an uptier in SB before BR bracket change) Most of it's changes throughout were nerfs but the indirect buffs it sometimes gets like you mentioned (that occasional Br bracket/at times siding with the M2k and the Aim54 buff) I think out weight them, yeah RWR is basically unusable but that's why something with a PD radar can help counter. I enjoy fighting mirages and notching them with no RWR too lol, it's a good challenge. And although the Magic 2 is cracked after it's buff I think the M2K is only OP when it's pared up with the F-14 and then both become just crazy good. Can't say 11.7 is always broken, sometimes it faces 13.0! but simply not joining those times isn't the best solution similar to when Mig's have to face F14's. The whole point is to play, but I don't have the answer because I'm sure Mig23s do pretty well when they get their downtier same way the M2k and the F14 gets it

@@af_nighthawk7400 MiG-23 with new flight model still fights Magic II Mirage 2000D and Mirage F-1C on any day that it's downtiered. Also with the new flight model it's not much better in a dogfight than the F4E...and planes like the hard wing phantoms have PD radar and Aim-7F. And that's as good as the Soviet side of the tech tree gets.

@@MeanHereAT well yeah the game/planes involved changed alot so it isn't the same as before. In conclusion I continue to play the Tomcat because I've always enjoyed it through its ups and downs, not because of it's current state and that even without the Tomcat around in the other BR brackets the Mig23s still gonna struggle because of it's RWR and Magic 2s like Squish said, and there's no simple solution. It's possibly the start of compression I believe

Now that WT Sim is discount bin DCS trying to appeal to Growling Sidewinder subscribers, I'm tempted to go in the other direction and become a BMS boomer

There is still room for balance, they just have to add more 2000-2010 russian stuff vs 90s NATO. Some bugs also need to be fixed to reduce NATO advantage, such as radar and missiles having x-ray vision and tracking through terrain. Some later modifications of r-77 can come close to the range of the amraam we have now so that’s a possible measure to bridge the gap. With the shift to a more BVR focused meta there is also room for interceptors like the MiG-31.

who cares, Tank RB has Pansir-1 which ourperforms anything in terms of AA capability, no other nation has such effective range and what not, people still play.

It would be nice if you just talk about more unique planes than just the most played aircraft at high to top tier(Like U.S. or Russia), like idk J-8F, J-7E or even Tornado for a whole vid.

There is an issue with that. The only unique suffer-mobile that I have unlocked is the F4F-ICE and I will probably do a video on it...but it's basically exactly what you would expect. It's an F4E with AMRAAM and an F-18 radar that fights on Red teams. I already have some footage of it...but it depends how motivated I get to put it into a video.

In a 1vs1 I would agree. And even then the MIG is forced to be defensive until the F-14 runs out of AIM-54s. When there are five F-14s in the air, plus some other AIM-9 slingers, you can´t do much. Flying defensive until you get shot down, or go to a suicidal mission and try to get at least one of them.

@@hydrolox3953 Most of the planes I am shooting at do not pick it up on RWR...so if it's launched from halfway across the map and the smoke trail is gone...you really don't have any good indication to react to.
