Great reviews as ever, someone told me the simplest way to describe a Kolsch is to think of it as a lager but brewed with top fermenting Ale yeast instead of a bottom fermenting Pilsner yeast. Good beer for the summer and I reckon the Scotland supporters will be having a few before their next Euro’s game in Cologne ‘cos that’s where it comes from!

@@beerkitreviewspartridge1083 I use the Grainfather G30 and the Darkrock kits suit it perfectly. For the Malborough Mist I guess you went with the Verdant IPA yeast?

When you put it through your Guinness tap. How did you condition/carbonate the beer. What gas mixture and psi did you condition at and at what pressure did you serve at. I’m considering the Marlborough mist next as I live 15mins from dark rock. Cheers lads.

Hi guys Once again great video and reviews but can I just ask and comment on your pump set up in particular your hand pull set up , as I think fair comment of mine is if the viewers are not using the same system ie gas , corny keg etc etc the beer kits will have different flavours mouth feel to someone that bottles there beer. I myself use a hand pull and I’m still trying to perfect serving from a corny keg so please guys could you shed some light on your setup to help me out , do you use a breather/asperstor from gas to keg ? Do you use beer gas mix 70/30 if so what psi ? Do you use corny kegs if so do you open the pressure valve to replicate a cask ? So many questions. And help Paul 🍺🍺

Hi Paul We use a mix gas ,I find this best for real ales as the beer doesn't asorbe the gas, I have a regulator on the bottle that goes to a secondary regulator, well I have 2 secondary The first secondary regulator serves the Guinness pump,so this is set at around 25psi the next secondary serves the 2 hand pulls, the hand will have 2 a check valve fitted,in you don't have a pint 365,this secondary is set at around 5 to 10 psi,put a lot can depend on the length of your beer line, I have my corny kegs in a kegerator si the beer is always nice and and finally if it gets real hot I've a chiller with a water recirculating,so I've a beer line with ice cold water running along side the beer lines ,the beer lines are wrapped together and insulated as well, Hope this helps

@PaulSmith-hc5rs no I gas the keg with mix case at kegging ,purge the out re gas ,I normally us a higher psi at this point say 20 /30 psi Just let a bit of gas out before connecting to serve ,and definitely don't add sugar
