That noise factor is huge...I love how capable this thing is while being power-efficient and quiet! So many reviewers never mention the sound-profile, just focus on benchmarks and games but you never know what it really sounds like in operation.

Quality video, Dave. Quick question! Do you think there will be a mini PC smartphone anytime soon, in light of ARM-based PCs becoming a thing? Forgive my English, it isn't my mother tongue.

mate, your English is amazing! never apologise! And in answer to your question I honestly think it will depend on how well these snapdragon laptops are received! If M$ doesn't bungle the snapdragon launch and we get a windows success like Apple got with apple silicon then I think we will definitely see an ARM windows phone especially if the surface pro sells well.

@@MashITTech Thank you so much and yeah! After the M1 MacBook came out, I had a crazy thought. I think the MacBook Air is becoming an iPad without a touchscreen and the iPad is becoming a MacBook Air without Mac OS, secretly. It feels like Apple is limiting the use and power of iPads just to sell their products separately. (I might be wrong) So, why don't they reduce the size of MacBook Airs, and put a touchscreen and a SIM card in them? I think they could do that if they want.

In my experience, the fan in these mini-PCs generally becomes a problem within a couple years when they get choked with dust (and then fan noise is extreme). This has happened to four of them in my experience. Is this mini-PC powerful enough for everyday computing? Well, to replace my NUC (which died due to fan failure) I built a desktop mATX system around an i5-14500 (6 performance cores, 8 efficiency cores, 770 iGPU), and I find it spends its day mostly cruising at under 10 watts, like its incredibly bored with me. With a single-fan air tower cooler on the CPU, the CPU temperature stays around 30C. Watching KZread at 1440p does not cause it to leave this low-power cruising state. Seems the 14500 was overkill for my gameless existence. I wanted the 770 iGPU, which is not available in lower-tier 14th gen CPUs.

It is a low cost way to connect USB audio interfaces to a Dante network. An N100 for €200 can run 65€ Dante Via software. And then can route the ins and outs an usb interface provides. A lot in case of my behringer X18. Hook up a touchscreen or two and it will also run your network interfaces for mixers, synths, etc. Taking that load of your workstation. 😊

This can be detached and taken to my bedroom where I have a projector mounted behind the bed. Carrying this in a backpack with a portable display is hardly any different from carrying a laptop with peripherals. Laptops are prone to critical hardware failure, and are much more difficult to repair. I've never had a laptop survive more than a few years, while desktops are still operating strong 10 years later. There's no battery to be concerned about generating heat, swelling, and damaging components. This has better thermals than a laptop, so the CPU is able to sustain higher frequencies for longer. You can attach this to multiple 4K displays without needing to reserve room for a laptop with a small 16" screen beside them. You can bring your own mechanical keyboard, which is better than any laptop keyboard to date. Overall, this is much better for use in a workstation than a laptop, and yet versatile enough to be plugged anywhere. Be that a small side table, a living room TV, a projector, etc.
