I made the beef and broccoli today, I cannot find Tri-Tip roast in my area so I substituted with flat iron steak. My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner and will be making it again tomorrow. This recipe is better than takeout from any restaurant locally!!! As a matter of fact, we haven’t gone out to eat our favorite meal because we have been so disappointed in the quality. i made this. She says it is just as good as take-out. Wow. I couldn't believe how good it was. I had an Easter rib roast so I used the trimmings (ribeye) and served it over rice. FANTASTIC!

Is 8 tsp of cornstarch really needed? Seems alot for 300g of beef.

Hi. Thank you for the recipe. May I ask you, what dark soy sauce do you use? There is a huge difference between different kinds of dark soy sauces. Japanese dark soy sauce (e.g. Kikkoman), Japanese Tamari soy sauce, I also have a Chinese dark soy sauce (healthy boy brand), which tastes quite liquorish and can only be added in microscopic amounts. I would really like to know which kind of dark soy sauce you use.

It will not taste good.
I marinade my beef (in cheap gin) for 24 hours before and then for an hour in a similar marinade to yours. Then I cook it all in a wok.

I use Tri-tip, you could use any cut of beef without tendon.🙂
Sometimes you go a nit slow with the sauce, making itnhard to find the rigjt ones

You use rice wine frequently. I don't have rice wine where I am. What can I use instead of rice wine?
