Beechcroft Model Railway - #42. A Door…and AnyRail!?!?

#hornbyrailways , #modelrailways , #bachmann , #modeltrains , #oogauge
Time to finally fit the door and seal the room! I know Spring is here but it still gets chilly above the garage so I’m going to get this final piece of structural work done.
It’s taken a couple of days but I can really notice the difference already. I was supposed to then start work on the embankment while I can still reach it….. but we all know how easily distracted I am. Couldn’t resist extending the board for the goods yard and having another go on AnyRail!!
Really pleased with the door and also the new area for the goods yard…. However, I really must prioritise the embankment around the incline!
Thanks for watching.

    It's good to see you keeping yourself warm and comfy for the winter. Isn't it just about over for this year? I would look at some perspex protection for that edge. As a Grandad it's hard to keep up with the grandkids. Having a 30cm, 6" clear wall of perspex over top of the edge featuring signage below the layout base will protect the trains stored in the area from accidental damage. No further distraction it's time to work on the embankment around the incline. Looking forward to seeing more stories about your trains along with your Train Room Adventure.

    You’re an engine! Always impressed by your productivity and build quality, room doors and baseboards included. I suspect you may say you tend to procrastinate a bit, but there’s nothing wrong with a steady thought process that includes pauses to allow ideas to percolate. Plus you adapt and develop your layout very well indeed. Quality work as always. Well done.

Putting off the flowers bed's as the fence is getting replaced in a few weeks so not worth the hassle to just have it all trampled on Will try get some done over the next couple weeks and then plan a shopping list for Model World Live next month

    Hi Andy, from another Andy. The problem you are having with your static grass culd be because the mesh size is too small. I had this problem, the grass not coming out freely and it also looked a mess. Changing to a larger mesh has solved that.

    Like the new track plan and where you have moved the double slip so all sidings can use the headshunt. Just wonder if you need to move the crossover on the entry roads back as perhaps all you need is to be able to detach your longest loco and run it around the train rather than where you have it at the moment which is half way along a siding. Remember, when you bring a train in the loco will be at the front and will need to get out so give yourself the most space for wagons and minimum to move the loco around!

  • @Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt

    @Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt

    5 ай бұрын

    Thanks. I took your advice on the headshunt. Much appreciated. I see what you mean about the crossover, it’s far too long just for a loco. You can tell I’m no designer. Love your advice! 👍

    Shouldn't the smoke alarm be at the top of the stairs to detect a fire below ? Not that I'm able to guess the layout of your home - obviously.... Door is a good idea, I'm thinking of pulling an inward opening door and rotating it to open outwards..... for a bit more room !! By the door you could make a vertical "traverser" full of rolling stock ?
