Beechcroft Model Railway - #39. How many more times!

I’m going to get this corner right once and for all….
It’s time to reshape the hillside and move the tunnel entrance to hide the curve and incline.
I’m using chicken wire to create a new hillside and covering it with paper mache. The clearance to the mainline is very tight so I’m thinking I may need to create some type of rock face - not sure how I will achieve that, but for now I’m concentrating on the new structure and I’ll take it from there!
I did think about adding more tunnels but I’ve tried to restrain myself…..
Hope the finished area will be an improvement - time will tell!!
Thanks for watching.

😂 It's not finished until it's finished. Your mind must be working overtime. It makes great viewing. 😊

Haha. I know. If only I thought things through before starting something!! 😂
Definitely an improvement! Rock faces on either side of the main line is a great idea too. Will show how they made a cutting through that section of hill.

Thanks. I hoping it will look ok! 👍
Nice work but isn’t it funny how one bright idea forces several others!

Hello Andy. Yet another brilliant vlog buddy. The way you set your tunnel in the scenery was great. I've used chicken wire myself, you can make lovely shapes with it, bit of support under it, plaster bandage, then Bob's you're uncle you have a good looking Hillside. Thanks Andy great vlog mucker. Pete.

Cheers Pete. A bit of messy fun - can’t beat it!! Take care, Andy
Once you spot something your not happy with or looks just a bit off, like a itch you just keep scratching until it looks still not right. HAHAHA

Ha. That is so true!! 😁
I always enjoy your videos, not too long, informative and showing great progress each time. The new hill side is looking much better than the original one you built. I think building up the lower hill to create a short cutting with a rock face on either side of the main line would look much more natural.

Thanks very much. You can probably tell I’m no expert but I do have fun with it! Yeah, I do think a rock face will look better 👍
That’s super impressive 😊. Looking good 👍

closed cell foam would work best for the hillside and portal lining. its light weight and can be shaped. those trees are looking nice. you ever nail down the approximate time frame for your railroad? It would be neat to have a few soldiers at the station home on leave.

Thanks. I will have a search for closed cell foam. The insulation board I’m using is a bit crumbly!? I’m kind of thinking late 50’s - toward the end of steam 👍

@@Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt i did a quick search online as products can have different names on opposite sides of the pond. The product you want is a XPS Extruded Polystyrene Foam. You should be able to get it at most home improvement type stores. Here in America we usually refer to it as pink or blue board due to the colors it comes in. Different manufacturers have different colors.

Would retaining walls work?

@@Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt if you do decide on a retaining wall, try using a different material for the wall. Most that you have now are the brick kind. Try concrete. Wood or stone style.
