When I was 14 years old in the 9th grade back in 1998, in my drama class, the teacher gave us an assignment/project to pick a song to lip sync to in front of the class. I had always loved this song so I decided that this was the song I was going to do. I got my mom to take me to a vintage clothing store and I bought an awesome 70's disco outfit to wear...white polyester bell bottom pants, platform shoes, and a brown yellow and orange polyester disco shirt with a big wide pointed butterfly collar...When the day came and it was my turn to perform, I walked into the classroom in my disco outfit and started lip syncing and dancing to Staying Alive. The whole class went crazy, everyone was clapping and cheering...they loved it and my performance was voted everyone's favorite...needless to say I got an A, lol. I was nervous as heck to do it because I had always been very shy at school, but I'm so glad I did. I was really proud of myself for having the courage to do it. I will remember that day for the rest of my life. 😁

This video reminds me that, in 45 years, I’ve never tired of hearing this song. It’s my go-to wake up song, energizing me every time. I danced to it this morning with my nine-month-old grandson. It also reminds me of my first love. We met in 1982. I was 18. He was 23. He was tall, thin, with facial features that resembled John Travolta. He smoothed his dark hair back, wore a similar black leather jacket and heeled shoes like Tony in SNF. He walked like him and tried to sound like him. Although I found this behavior to be weird, I was fascinated with him and taken in by his charm. We dated for two years. He charmed women of all ages, with his handsome smile and never-ending terms of endearment. They blushed and giggled, perhaps because it seemed that John Travolta himself was paying them attention. I was somewhat jealous at times. But, mostly impressed with how easily he made people, especially the ladies, smile. 37 years have passed since I last saw him. I think of him often. I wonder if he’s outgrown his Tony phase or if the Tony persona stuck with him permanently. Thinking of him at the age of 63 strutting by like Tony wearing a black leather jacket, heeled boots, and slicked back hair brings brings a huge smile to my face.

Just today (12 Oct 2016) there's an article about a New York subway worker who got electrocuted; her co-worker performed CPR and revived her to the beat of Stayin' Alive. This disco song was set to 103 beats per minute, which is ideal for CPR. Don't know if Barry Gibb knew this and set his song to this beat but how appropriate in this case! Maybe that's why this song is so addictive to listen to--it's set to our natural feel good rhythm.

Everything has been done, and society refuses to let anything re-happen, it's considered "giving in" and admitting that some other people's time was better. And WE know it was! There are certain films that are so important, to most of us, they form the backdrop to our lives. This is one of those films, because the music was just epic. There was life before Night Fever and life post Night Fever. Star Wars (the original one) is one of the other films. John Travolta was a young actor and perfect for this role. How many of us can do the moves? They become ingrained in our memory. The Bee Gees were a band that adapted to the music popular at the time. They became almost timeless and so prolific too. The 70's were a decade I remember for being better than now. Less pressure, no internet, less money, but just a nicer time to be staying alive. We have lost the plot as a species, but the music reminds us of a better time. 🕺

This song is from a bygone and best forgotten era: Farrah Facet and Dorthy Hamill hair styles, mood-rings, 8-tack tapes, pet rocks. Plastic suits with wide lapels and unbuttoned shirts, exhibiting enough golden chains on "hairy chests" to anchor a battleship, danced beneath huge spinning glitter balls. It was a time when disco ruled the air waves, and Gremlins roamed free on the nation's interstates, while "Hippies" evolved (or devolved) into "Yuppies." I know ... me and my bell-bottomed jeans somehow lived through it.

I was a kid and saw it on polish tv with couple of yrs delay as it was with communists. Imagine the effect...

Con esta pelicula ese famoso baile se volvió una verdadera fiebre en los 70, todos querian ser como Travolta, una moda total por la música disco, tanto que al personaje lo han parodiados hasta en series animadas, una legendaria pelicula inolvidable de la época.
I'm grinning so hard that my face hurts. Five minutes of happiness.
Travolta recently attended an Indian Award Show and he danced to Bollywood beats with so much grace. 30 odd years is often a great time to forget the achievements of a terminally handsome legend like him. They've chosen the shots for the beginning of this film so well. I need to watch it again. Dad says this was a rage when he was 20. I can't FATHOM how inspiring John really is PLUS mad love for the Bee Gees.
UM ÓTIMO SOM,FAZ A GENTE VOLTAR NO TEMPO,NOTA 1000
How talented were the Gibbs brothers to make such fantastic music!
It's a great pumping heart cpr-beat too, exact tempo
Just today (12 Oct 2016) there's an article about a New York subway worker who got electrocuted; her co-worker performed CPR and revived her to the beat of Stayin' Alive. This disco song was set to 103 beats per minute, which is ideal for CPR. Don't know if Barry Gibb knew this and set his song to this beat but how appropriate in this case! Maybe that's why this song is so addictive to listen to--it's set to our natural feel good rhythm.

Época de de ouro discotecas danças lindas músicas que ficaram para sempre na história

Miles Davis was the BIRTH of the cool. Travolta only wished he could be as cool as the likes of Miles Davis, Coltrane, Mingus, etc.

Cooler Song und Coole Achselhaarbeharung,ja früher war das so....ABER GEILER FILM und BESTE MUKKE

Do you remember when bell bottoms went out of style? (odd question I know but I'm just curious, lol)

@@djhutcherson6761 They went out in 1980, with Travolta's next induced fad: "Urban Cowboy." Mechanical bulls replaced glitter balls, and boot-cut denim jeans replaced polyester suits.
