I’ve seen a dealt with most bodges and rubbish parts supplied as new replacement’s - but that head gasket is astonishing! Yes I would check everything as well!

I would also check the timing chain and cam as well!

It’s amazing what you can find in a rebuilt engine, ask me. It was yesterday I was thinking that we haven’t seen a Bedford van video for a while. Now I know why. Good job to pull the sump and check, you are this far into it a bit more even if for your own knowledge is not a far stretch. That head gasket or lack of is worrying. One thing is those engines are good solid hard working workhorses that can put up with a lot of abuse. Let’s hope the bottom end is okay but my money is on the bearing bolts have not been torqued correctly. Good luck mate, it is a great van.😊

@@The_Car_Sanctuary weak point on those engines was always the oil pump if you do anything you must carefully check that out the impellers are quite soft and wear badly

I t looks as though someone has botched it up, may be a big job to strip it down, but it's better than breaking down, and causing more damage
