BED FRAME | Simple and Strong | Toyota Coaster Conversion | Bus Build

In this episode we show you how we built a simple and strong double bed frame into our Toyota Coaster. We decided on an east-west bed setup and take you through the materials we used and how to secure the brackets and frames to the bus.
We got the materials from bunnings, including:
- 40x40x3mm galvanised steel angle - these are mounted to the walls of the bus
- 30x30x2mm square steel hollow sections - these are the three brace beams
- M6 bolts and washers
The tools we used were:
- M6 RivNuts and RivNut gun - came together in a pack we ordered online
- Cobalt metal drill bits and drill
- Socket set

I noticed at the end you ended up putting a support beam under the bed, was it strong enough as a full floating bed?

Hi Lachy, I did add a support piece of timber under the middle beam towards where our torsos would be lying, just to be extra secure and help with long term flex. I don't think it would be completley necessary, but we had the room and also needed another anchor point for some of the under bed storage and electrics, so added it in. The side steel beams are supported by the cabinets/seating as well so definately didnt require additional support.

Hi Billy, I used some aluminim extrusion for the bed slats to sit on, then I screwed them onto the blue steel supports. I think that is what you are referring to. Let me know if you need further clarification.
