In this talk, Yeonmi tells her story and discusses, from firsthand experience, what socialism is, what freedom is, and the ways in which freedom is a necessary condition for people to live as human beings.

In North Korea they had German Shepherds with poisoned fangs chase us across the electric floor between the masturbation machine factory and the homicidal shower heads. And then they stuffed mattresses with human hair and made lampshades and purses out of skin. Oops wrong script

Many ppl in America or anywhere else who feel they are unhappy for whatever reason shouldn’t be shamed by someone who thinks she owns the right to speak out about the horrific conditions she’s come from, is a very sad position to take. So she’s only an activist here in America for N Koreans? Everyone else are nothing but whiners bc they didn’t experience what she did? Yet she likes Trump who loves her former oppressor. It’s all very confusing.

That can be true, but is also false equivalency. There are a lot of very real problems in the United States to address. Just because you aren't literally starving to death and only allowed to listen to state media propaganda all day doesn't mean you don't have genuine problems to solve.

In a Vedic scripture I was reading just this morning there's a description of the forest of material existence: "Not knowing the aim of life, the materialist perpetually wanders in material existence, struggling to get the necessities of life. Not understanding the aim of life, even though he acquires sufficient necessities, he manufactures artificial necessities and thus becomes more and more entangled. He creates a mental situation whereby he needs greater and greater comforts. The materialist does not know the secret of nature’s ways. " Of course this doesn't mean that to be poverty stricken is noble. No, it means materialistic society is not the source of real knowledge or real happiness and satisfaction. Thanks for reading.

As a 16 yr old girl living in America, I can easily say that we are all in the dark as of what is going on over there. Seeing these leaders, and giving them praise, but behind the shades, is a corrupted, starving, neglected community, in need of help. I continue to educate myself as much as much possible considering I don't have the power that I wish I had to make a difference. Maybe we can't physically be there, but videos like this are a way to spread the word virtually, and fast. You are such an amazing person, and I'm rooting for you all the way. You are so brave to publish these things, and you are a strong beautiful human. I thank you for enlightening us, on some of the true horrors occurring in North Korea. You have suffered, and I'm so sorry for that. You are so brave and strong, and we have a mission to get the word out as much as we can, and people like you are making that possible.ღღღ༺♡༻ღღღ

We can be the change that needs to happen . Knowing the problems and asking the right questions are two components of the solution. "Not knowing the aim of life, the materialist perpetually wanders in material existence, struggling to get the necessities of life. Not understanding the aim of life, even though he acquires sufficient necessities, he manufactures artificial necessities and thus becomes more and more entangled. He creates a mental situation whereby he needs greater and greater comforts. The materialist does not know the secret of nature’s ways." Thanks for reading. Yes. Our issues are predominantly mental dysfunction and ignorance in this great land of material so-called progress. Here's a thought to support this. The materialist does not know the secret of nature’s ways. " So will a restructure of our outlook help the world? I believe it will. 🙏🏻

I first heard about you yesterday I watched you being interviewed by a man ( I won't say who) whom asked you how many times you were raped, even after you explained you were sold by 3 men once you got to China, etc. It didn't take a math genius to know the number was unimaginable. (I was an abused child and that question was absolutely unacceptable). You sad; I don't know, I could see the pain in your eyes, he then asked you again. I was appalled. Anyway, again you said you didn't know; he then came up with a stupid reason why he asked. I hope in the future you consider being interviewed by more women. Unfortunately, even in America, there are creepy men. I'm so honored to have cross your path. I haven't bitched about anything since I heard your story, even thou it's been only one day

She is an amazing lady. The way she defines freedom is everything. Some ppl who live in America should be grateful for their freedom. If not, let them go to North Korea and they will beg to be free in America.

I appreciate your resilience and passion for freedom, I also understand your aversion to the programmatic mindset of American liberals (I love the fountainhead too :-) ), however now it seems like American politics is split into two camps - and the conservatives are more interested in opposing liberals than real freedom (same for the liberals vs the conservatives), so hope you will stay free and not be captured by a camp. love it that you are a self-declared libertarian!

How many women in the human trafficking market in china we're able to Overcome the difficulties that you experience in china to bring you and your mother to mongolia and then eventually your sister is well. There's a reason why I love you..... And yes your accomplishments are who you are and these accomplishments or why I love you...... This is who you are.... Think about your stature how small you are how fragile you are and then have any extreme health issue when you were young.... To do all of what you've done takes great will great determination..... So I fell for you when I first found out about you.... So this is in two thousand I think fifteen or somewhere in two thousand fourteen.... So I might get upset at times but my love for you has never wavered..... You are my girl and I love you very much......
