i'm 29 turning 30 soon, started working retail when i graduated high school and i'm currently unemployed (almost a year now), i'm literally this guys past right now where i feel stuck in life and depressed, i wasted 10 years of my life of being a nobody but stumbling upon this video has gave me pure motivation to start looking for schooling. i've always loved older vehicles and was always curious of how they operated and it's literally my only interest and i think it's time to buck up and start taking action in doing something i enjoy and get paid doing it!

After the Army at 23. Everyone told me to go to college. Was 2 years into a Hydrology degree and dropped out to become a Diesel and Automotive mechanic. Been doing it for 20 years. I love it every single day. I enjoying doing what I do. I love being a mentor toward the guys in their 20s. I started out in 00 when the baby boomers were in charge. They were loud and jerks. Now guys my age are in charge. Mechanics are treated with respect. No more yelling or making the green guys stressed out over making mistakes. It has changed the last 10 years to say the least.

I am very happy to hear that. I start in a few weeks as a direct entry apprentice - and it seems like a lot has changed. It's regarded more and more as a profession. I am nervous, but super excited to start! 23 myself.

Just hit the line as a tech after two years apprentice and this isn’t for me. I can diagnose and fix the cars but the stress of getting the work done in a timely manner isn’t worth it for me. Dammed if I do, dammed if I don’t.

That's what holds me back from pursuing this career path. I've never been good at managing stress and I don't work well at all under pressure. I have no idea what the hell I wanna do with my life.
