We have no problems with the genuine teachings of Jesus. The Abrahamic religions have not been kind to each other or anyone else and the death toll is too great to count and continues even as I write this. Change can start with a single voice. May it be yours.

Anyone else find it hard to worship a profit who hasn't shown themselves for thousands of years? But to worship the earth that is actually physically there, that makes a lot more sense to me but that is just my opinion. Blessed be.!

Laurie, (you probably won't read this but I wanted to share this anyways) I want to thank you, your videos and the book "Power of the Witch" alone helped me on my path to Witchcraft, I have never felt happier in my life after I was introduced, and I am still learning. Your videos and books have taught me so much and helped me evolve into a better Witch, and a better human being. Thank you and Blessed be.

The danger in following many paths is that one never gets to the root of things. I have followed one path for going on 60 years and am still learning the depth of it. Most traditions will get you to essential truths but varying ways, I would caution against the cafeteria style spirituality, you may be the exception, but the majority of people I speak to end up more confused as some things appear in opposition to another. Doctors specialize in specific branches of medicine, it can help.

Wicca is a huge umbrella and under it comes a lot of people with often times very conflicting philosophies. We are Witches and specifically Witches who follow the Hermetic philosophy whilst practicing Witchcraft as an art, science and a religion. You need to find people who share your path. In the end, truth is truth and as long as you align with nature, harm none you will find all paths lead to the same place. The difference is lifestyle and aesthetics.

@Mr1saacram1rez Thank you for caring, but I think that you do not understand your own faith much less ours. We see the work of God in all creation, this is why we harm none and protect the environment. We are not the ones who wage wars for conversions and was it not Jesus who said love thy enemy as thyself. The teachings of Jesus are of love and forgiveness, I do not see much of that in his followers. Who are you to judge? That is not something Jesus would approve of either.

The problem with not having a tradition and using umbrella terms like Wiccan, is that terms like Green Witchery can mean anything and nothing. All Witches and all conventional traditions use nature and the wheel in their practice. That would make the most sense. In my book Celebrate the Earth I go through a lot of nature inspired recipes and practice, but they are all tied into Witchcraft and specifically the Cabot Tradition. It is a fun book you would enjoy it.

it's actually really difficult to not be an eclectic especially with my mexican heritage with the brujera and while I've always had a sense that it's been my path it's just difficult to find any information or mentor that connects with my heritage. I'm still new in my research and I am reading like crazy but so far it is very difficult to just stick with one thing..if that makes sense..

I just want to thank you for your good work and courage in the face of so much hatred and oppression. Many think I'm lost because I'm gay and I'm a Witch, and that's sad. The world is full of hate. People need to see that Witches are no more of a threat than are Lutherans or Mennonites. We just have a different way of worshipping and connecting to the Divine. Witchcraft has taught me that I'm not evil and sinful, but good. What a gift! Love and peace to you.

Thank-you, Laurie, for your wonderful insights on witch-craft. I am still reading your book, "The Power of the Witch", and it truly is a great read, and has arrived in my possession at the perfect time. I've been on quite a bumpy road in the spiritual path to enlightenment, but now I am becoming more and more aware of things and where everything all started from. I believe every religion has truth, but no one religion has ALL the truth. Thank-you again, you are a wonderful person. :)

The term Warlock is used in films and video games but a Warlock is an Oath Breaker. A male Witch is imply a Witch it is a unisex term. Wizard is used also, but again it carries all sorts of implied meaning which do not apply to those who follow Witchcraft. Druid is a better Celtic term, but that also implies great study and accomplishment a kind of PHD if you will.

You truly were (and still are) a great inspiration to me. every time I used to get angry with an Abrahamic follower (I had a BIG problem with that for the first year or so I practiced) I thought of you. thank you for everything. blessed be! )O(

@NovaSquall Hi, one could use the term Wizard, but really the term 'Witch' applies to both sexes today. We all have the same latent talents, the science of Witchcraft teaches you how to develop and harness the abilities we have from birth, the art of Witchcraft allows you to live the path on a daily basis and finally if you are interested the religion teaches you how to live in these complex times. This is a great journey, if it is for you, you will know it and you will educate yourself in it.

@RandomGirl1237 To be a Witch is to live in harmony with nature and to harm none. Different traditions of Witchcraft have different ways of doing this. The Cabot Tradition is well explained in my book "Power of the Witch" but we simply follow a path that turns everyday life into an ongoing majickal experience.

@Lauriecabot, I could not agree more when you say that "roots matter", and that one needs to have an understanding and context of the traditions that they may be drawing from. And, of course, with age and experience I've also found that indeed the Ego often impedes one's progress or limits understanding! Hope that's worded well...been a bit scatter brained with seed starting season keeping me busy!

@TomVinegar You are most kind. I think dialogue of any kind if important, if they care enough to post, perhaps they will care enough to learn something, if not then that is their loss. While the internet does seem to make some people rude, I prefer that to the cement blocks thought the windows of stores or the credible death threats when we first started this all these years ago. If 2000 years of active prosecution and persecutions have not stopped us, some unfortunate comments won't either.

@beatlesfan8171763 Witchcraft is a specific magickal path that is Indo-European, The Cabot tradition adds the Hermetic philosophy which comes from the Egyptian Mystery school, but it is in practice Celtic. If you read my book, Power of the Witch you can get a solid explanation of what we teach and what path we follow. It is not for everyone but if you identify with it, then you will find it rather unique.

@ScenicWitch I would only note that in Witchcraft we do not have a "middle man". We have no need like the Christians of passing through a priest. A tradition is mostly for holistic education and support of the community. Being eclectic can be a good thing, just like home schooling. It depends on the individual. I find that establishing a focused and functioning base, prevents errors and confusion later on. Not to mention that there is a lot of nonsense that passes for truth out there.

  • @LaurieCabotOfficial
    @LaurieCabotOfficial14 жыл бұрын

@Pagyptsian Our path is not about "belief" it is about actualization. Belief was introduced by religions for control, we are practical, what we do works, so you resonate with it or not. With that said, there is an integrity to the whole system that a tradition offers which bears careful study even if at first you do not see the reason for some things it may be important to dig deeper. Examining the elements you do not 'feel' can reveal much about you and or the tradition you are looking at.

@27Drpepper Finding a teacher or a community that can teach is not easy. The good news is that you can get quite a good start from books, Power of the Witch was my contribution to getting people onto the path, after that you may need to seek out a tradition and a teacher. We still teach but you have to come to Salem until we can figure out a way to teach online in a way that is effective.

@jaynswiss Some of the most profound lessons are those we rebel against at first. The idea that our own ego is the greatest enemy we have in our spiritual path is tough for many. That the things that define our individuality are in some cases the very things we need to fight against to become one with spirit. There is a strong push to "sell" religion to people, add a bit of this and that and it becomes a cool thing. Hollywood aspects creep into "Wicca" and it is compelling but not effective.

@celticbattleaxe Nothing is secret in the Cabot tradition. For the thousands of years that anyone might have been prosecuted or persecuted for their beliefs, I can understand why some degree of discretion was important to survival. But today it is an individual choice to practice openly or not, but the knowledge should be taught openly.

If I may reply and give my opinion. From my own experience over 41 years looking/searching to hard will not get you what you desire. Ask the Universe (or which ever path you follow), for guidance and then forget about it. I honestly feel that by doing this, sending the wish out and then stop looking...You will find your teacher sooner than you think.Much like basic spell work. We cant dwell on it or it will not come to pass. I hope this helps, Blessed be and best to you Josh.

I am surprised sometimes how hateful they also can be to complete strangers for their beliefs. The strange thing is it's the only religion I've encountered that literally sees their way as truths versus some other traditions which only say they are philosophy. That is the difference of spirituality and religiosity. One is a way of life, not being only in name but really living out your beliefs. Most Christians I've met failed to do this. They fail to live in accordance with their beliefs.

Over time words can change definitions, but there is deep meaning in language. Even the term Magician is not correct for those that practice. We employ Magick or any number of alternative spellings specifically to avoid the slight of hand or secretive aspects of the meaning. In fact what we do is science and verifiable by any who wish to do so. Anyone can chose their own terms of course as long as their actions are correct.

@lucidfail Having a tradition is helpful in the learning process. Think of it like picking a major in college, ideally the courses offered will get you on your chosen path quickly. Without a structure of some kind, people get lost in one thing or another, then try to combine ideas, that while very nice, do not fit well together and confusion results. The path towards enlightenment is from clarity. A good tradition helps this especially if they have been around a long time.

To have perfect love is a wonderful thing and is hard to do in our world. To repent is in all of us and not solely to a religion. It is to have regret. To harm none is not always possible, to have the intention of harming none is an idea and a very good one.

  • @LaurieCabotOfficial

    @LaurieCabotOfficial

    10 жыл бұрын

We do not deal in regret or repentance. We own our actions and understand the consequences, by living in the moment, by projecting for correctness, not with words but full intent, we move forward. Things which we have done incorrectly we do not moan about, we ensure it never happens again. To feel regret is to relive a mistake, I'd prefer to correct it if possible and if not, be grateful for the lesson so it happens no more.

  • @Bloodyflower2067

What you described is what repentance is so yes you do repent. To repent is to feel regret and to regret is to have an apology and accountability to a mistake that has been made. An honest mistake is a mistake without intent of harm whether harm be there or not a mistake is made, with that an acknowledgement of the mistake it is learned and repentance is there.

Well said LaurieCabotOfficial and I am who I am and very proud of it my church is not a building but the out doors with nature and mother earth and I love my path and I have tried the church thing but found that the path I am on is best for me. I don't judge anyone for there beliefs and we are not evil people so there is no need to repent or ask for forgiveness for what I believe in. Yes where is your love pizzylee1978 you need to re-research what we stand for and who we are.

@flickersweet I do not know about made or not made, I do know about educated or not. To be a Witch is to be educated and to be clergy is to help others. Education is nothing if the information is not internalized and understood, books are rarely the answer but they can provide clues. I shy away from belief as well as that seems too convenient sometimes to abandon thinking.

I do not have Anglo ancestry but I am interested in Wicca. I want to study with a group but so many call themselves "Wiccan" I don't know how to start. How do i find a credible and open-minded group?

what if i do not want to "join" any relegion? i am very interested, but i am against joining a relegion. when i go into wiccan where likeminded people go i most always pick up a bad vibe from at least one person......this has kept me from getting to know anyone at all because i am a very very cautious person...........btw thank you for video, you seem very beautiful.you captured my attention right away.

Wicca teaches peace. It dose not teach "be a pushover." It as ALWAYS okay to defend yourself. You are not trying to do harm, you are trying to prevent someone from harming you. I think that extends to the military as well. Most nations have military for national DEFENCE. Not to invade or conquer other nations. Combat isn't pleasant but someone has to do it. These are my views, and I hope they help but you must decide for yourself what is right. Blessed be! And thank you for your service.

then it just seemed like I always need wicca to help me just in life if not i could not do anything. it was like trying to drive blindfolded. so i must admit i felt alone in the world. but wicca helped me so much. then i didnt think it was dumb and i realized since being in LA that there are so many movie stars, celebrities, writers, directors who rely on witchcraft. So i understand now that it is a religion and it is SO SERIOUS. I love it but nothing to play with if not serious walk away

@XPixiePrinceX This is not unlike the decision to go to college. Before picking a major one should look into all options. The strides made however come from delving deeply into a specific direction rather than knowing a little about a lot of things. Few PHD students would argue study has limited their options.Cabots learn the science, the art, the philosophy and the religion. It is a holistic system where all the parts function together. Bits of one thing or another would not function well

If you are a druid from the Celtic source, then what you practice is most probably Witchcraft already. Depending on the region your tradition originates from there might be some variations, but the base is the same.

@cgray6306 There are indeed many people who have a Magickal tradition and use Magick, but Witchcraft as we use the term, is not an umbrella word that covers all of those people, most of whom already have a name and would not want to be called Witches. American Indians and the Voudons for example, use Magick but are not Witches. Witchcraft as we teach it, evolved through the Celts and so the rites and traditions are clearly defined as is the science.
