I love my RC4WD rigs! Scale builders guild has a good video about the leaf spring mods. I didn't do the "chino" mod, but I did remove the smallest leafs and put them on top if the stack. It can help to "bench cycle" the springs and just driving it will help to soften them. Probably the most helpful suspension mod is to remove the springs from inside the shocks. I use 1/12 scale figures but it's necessary to remove the lower legs at minimum or for best fit cut the figure at the waist. A nimh or 2s lipo is pretty good to start with, but I ended up installing a 65 turn motor, an 8 tooth pinion, and 3s lipo. This gives a smoother start up and allows enough speed for flat trailing. A lot of people complain about the stock electronics, but I'm still using the stock radio. When it was around 4 years old the ESC died so I installed an 80 amp ESC. I recommend driving it as it comes before you modify anything, so you know where you're starting from. Have fun!

Congratulations! Driving a leafed truck can be a bunch of fun, little different than driving a 4 link all the time. Ounce you take out that 3rd leaf, along with the "Chino" mod(among others), it will make a big difference. Besides that, the more you break in those springs the better it handles!

Welcome to the leaf life. I used to talk shit about these things but after getting my first I’m hooked. I’ve sold my 2 cheater rigs and only want leaf trucks 😆. Surprisingly though after some tweaks they can be pretty capable.

Love the details of these rigs. I've only really had minor issues with my truck. Like any rtr the electronics are trash. I only have two batteries that fit well . The interior won't let me run any pack bigger than my 3000 electron lipo. And the roof cracked on a soft rollover on a chilly day. But all in all it's a fun rig. It's interesting to see it running. We take for granted how easy hard terrain is with a lexan body rig. I was tempted to modify the seats so they have some squish I can only get certain figures in the 5 1/2 to six inch range. My Marty obviously fits but my marvel legends an gijoe will as well. Most of my wrestling figures and NECA figs are either too tall or they don't articulate well enough to get in with out risk of breaking the steering wheel
