Become your RABBIT'S best FRIEND: how to bond with your rabbits and make them LOVE you
Have you ever wondered how you can get your bunny to love you? How is it possible that people are actually allowed to kiss and cuddle their rabbit, while yours flees the moment you try to pet him? I can tell you: it is possible! Of course every rabbit is different, but there are ways to bond to your little fluff ball. Curious?

My first foster fail, a Californian X REW, was actually living in a car with her human prior to being brought to the rescue and surrendered through many tears. She was very loved and extremely socialized despite that hardship. She loves to snuggle on the floor and now her husbun has learned to accept pets and nose rubs…but not so much snuggles for him. The best feeling is when she melts into petting and tilts her head into my hand. 🥰

Wow, a rabbit living with a human in a car. I believe I saw a situation like that in one of Lennon The Bunny’s video’s. That rabbit was so loved! I am glad your foster rabbit got so much love with you. It is so special when a bunny expresses his love for you like that.

I am a first time rabbit owner. I am 63 years old. Long story short..I picked up a 2 year old male rabbit from a Humane Society in Manitoba Canada. He was neutered at that point. He was tagged as a mini rex but when I joined an online rabbit forum, I quickly realized he was likely a cross with a Netherland Dwarf and a lionhead. I am absolutely smitten with this adorable, highly intelligent creature. I did a lot of research before deciding a rabbit could be happy and thrive in our home. After watching your video I realized how incredibly fortunate we are to have this rabbit. He loves to be petted. He rushes to the front of his X pen the minute he hears my voice. He follows me around when he free roams. He has brought me SO much joy during an incredibly sorrowful time in our lives.

Hi Mariska! Lovely video! My wife and I adopted a bun almost a year ago. Andre is very social and loves and demands attention. He licks my hand and face everyday when I pet him. I was curious why he doesn’t do it with my wife? She more of the caretaker and spoils him. So I’m surprised that he only licks me. Can you tell me why that is? Thank you for sharing your knowledge on buns!👍🏾

  • @the_bunnymom

Hi! Andre sounds like a very friendly bunny. It is hard to say why a bunny chooses to groom one person and not the other. It might even be because your wife is spoiling him and is therefore considered lower in the hierarchy. Bunnies groom other bunnies who are higher in the hierarchy. Of course I am just guessing. 🙂 It could also be a that your face tastes better 🤭 or there is a difference in energy. My rabbits don't groom me either. Sera used to lick my nose sporadically, but I think she has grown over that. 🙈

I am so sorry to hear that! I don't have experience with that myself, but I think you can try to hand feed the bunny. If the bunny has not been fixed yet, it could help to have that done. Also, the bunny could be frustrated by living alone, or is he/she living with another bunny?

@@JC-ce8uw I am sorry that happened to you. It sounds like she is defending her territory against the other bunny. And you were sadly in between. You can try bonding them in a neutral territory if they are fixed. That can be tried with caution and only under supervision. It's best to read about it on the internet, because there is a lot of info out there about bonding rabbits. 🙂

Rabbits are pretty vicious with each other. They’re not going to be friends right away and in some cases, never. They need to be bonded and is a slow and longer process that requires consistency and dedication. And if they’re not spayed/neutered, PLEASE don’t leave them together. There way too many rabbits out there who need homes already. Also, if you’re keeping her in the cage alone, she may be lonely and suffering and you’re a predator in her eyes if she tries to bite you. This means she doesn’t trust you and is afraid of you. Try to be kind to her, spend more time with her by sitting on the floor and let her approach you. Speak in a loving voice and create an environment where she can run and play. Also, rabbits hate to be picked up.
