Become an INSTANT Hypnotist - Easy Hypnosis Induction with Monoideism!
This video unpacks a simple and highly effective approach to a classic hypnosis arm levitation induction utilising 19th century hypnotist James Braid's concept of monoideism. This rendering of the psychology of hypnotism allies with the Hypnosis Without Trance approach taught in depth in the Hypnosis Without Trance Hypnosis Mastery Programme...

This rapid and direct approach can be in any context (street hypnosis to clinical hypnotism) and in the video I share some framing ideas for new hypnotists for whom this might be their first hypnotic experiment (and success!)

Thanks James. I’ll certainly try that arm raising as part of my next induction/preparation for trance.
Great stuff James! By the way- i used your arm levitation idea in which you instruct the person to lift their hand ever so slowly and then asking them to wonder, in the midst of the arm rising, wether it is they who raise the arm or is it floating all by itself.. Genius manouver!
"You may find after a time...." LOL. I closed my eyes and listened to the hand lifting suggestions and started cracking up. Great video.
really appreciate your work. great style
I would have liked to make some "hilarious" comment about downward facing swan, but I'm just not that clever. ;)
Fantastic explanation James, great training experience, which is how we learn "experience."

Hello James! Just watched a couple of videos and I must say they're great. I'm a hypnotist and NLPier trained with Bandler. These videos make so much sense. While I express my gratitude, may I ask for book titles that you have apparently shared in one of you videos please. I'm not able to look for it. I know one of the books is The Rainbow Machine. Please put up that list of books somewhere or as a reply to this comment. Thank you so much.
And now you can allow that arm to float down only as fast as your eyes close and you go down into a deep hypnotic trance. Thats right.
James- awesome video! As I know you are also a parent, my own kids are fascinated that I am studying and learning hypnosis and are often eager to want to be experiential subjects for "magical" things like arm levitations. It's a blast connecting with them in this way. Any advice as to how you've applied hypnosis to parenting? We have kids around us in my home almost 24/7, and as parents want to influence our kids and friends in the best way possible. I've read Monsters and Magical Sticks which I found really helpful, but more for trauma and therapy. As a parent I'm curious to your view and direction or reference to further learning on how to apply hypnosis to parenting as I've found very little in the field on this topic. Keep up the great videos!
so i am a Hypnotist and I loved the video. I play with this when people say things like so your a hypnotist. I have had both amazing responses and flops as well. In my technique of hypnosis I use lots of visualization. If i see that spark in their eyes I ask if they would like to play a mind game. I then go into the placebo and how the mind can lead the body will follow. Then i do your routine, i do tell them to use their imagination and really see their hand raising, feel your hand moving like your mind wants it too and so on. would it be safe to say its almost like a suggestibility game to see how they respond hypnosis?
Amazing 🙌❤️
Hola. Active los subtítulos por favor. Gracias.
When I imagine myself holding lots of balloons in my hand after a couple of minutes my hand lifts up by itself. I think this is self-hypnosis.
Thank you
Love it thanks
Nice breakdown, I ordered a few books you recommended on a previous video and am really enjoying:
How do you react if that arm just never starts lifting?
Hi! I have been doing card magic for a long time and I recently got interested in hypnosis too. I started with simple "hypnotic tests" like the "balloon-book" test. I'm 16 and I tried this with many of my friends. I wanted to say that, despite explaining a bit of how hypnosis works and that I've learned some kind of it, almost all of them got hypnotized easily. Some of them also got hypnotized multiple times. How about this?
With all your experience what would be your recommendation of the first few books to read for change making? I have no NLP or hypnosis background.
