You are seriously the only KZread writing creator that actually gives interesting insights that I've never heard, rather than the same rehashed advice over and over again. Thanks! I'll be picking up your book for sure.

Exactly spot on. Most of them try to convince you they are the only way to success, sometimes going so far as to use examples of what not to do which is exactly what multi million authors are doing.

this brings a whole new understanding to "holes" in the plot. where the fabric and the seams arent stitched well enough in places

I love this! In my Acting Shakespeare class, we talked about turning the thought in a similar way: you only have one thought at a time, and on a specific word, the thought would turn in a new direction. This allows you to have HUGE emotions, without ever seeming fake, because you're moving from thought to thought. As long as you're always moving, your acting is alive. I love the way you articulated this, and it definitely sort of...made a bridge in my mind, to that old technique. This was definitely a high XP video!

I first watched this video several months ago, and it has helped tremendously in my WiP chapters where I feel like I'm writing blind. Structure helps so much! I actually plot out my chapters using this pattern now and set certain word count markers for when I should try to have a turn of action or sensory anchor, then a word target for the next set of action, and so on, all the way through the chapter. Thank you for your excellent content!

Michael, I know you have a day job and the fact that you're so prolific speaks volumes (pardon the pun.) If you had to, could you live a comfortable life in terms of the material end of things just writing, with no other vocation/employment?

I've noticed the same, but it seems the opening scene should be different. Mine aren't any different, but idk, it *seems* they should be. The edited version of The Stand by Stephen King opens just as you say, but the "original" version has a forward that starts with action. I stuck the quotes in there because King tried to update his original and, IMO, screwed the thing up.

I would but due to copyright issues I can’t display another writer’s work except my own, and honestly, while I like my own writing (sometimes), using my own work would come across as a little arrogant. :) I have concrete examples and more illustrations in my playbook so I would definitely check that out.
