I've finally played this today with my 5 year old and we've enjoyed! Granted, I went easy on him and let him win but I enjoyed finally learning how to play the game after many years. Looking forward to play more and collect more cards. McDonalds is currently giving out pokemon cards with their happy meals so the timing is right!

I learned how to play with TGC Online it does a pretty good job of explaining everything when you play against cpu and it's free. (But it is kind of pay to win if you want to play against other players.)

@@TheStickCollector that's cool I didnt know that but still if they put out a pokemon tcg game for switch they probably wont update it with all the new cards like they do for the app. I'm pretty sure the yugioh game for the switch doesn't have card data base update too. I could be wrong though Edit: hopefully they put a game for switch though. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. I hesitate to buy yugioh for switch since it probably has Master Rule 4 and I'm not the biggest fan of pendulum summoning. I could get away with link but not pendulum aummoning

Finally got the digital version of the card game, scanned a ton (60+)of diffrent code cards, got 3 EX and 2 Breaks. Good stuff.

I can't believe how easy this video made this game seem. I'm definitely buying this kit!

There are some things they didn't go over but it's fine. Its as plain as. It can get. Not a hard game to learn. I have been magic the gathering players transition pretty easily to pokemon, but i found it harder for pokemon players transition to magic the gathering. That's how easy it is to play pokemon even though they both have a similar game mechanic. Yugioh on the other hand has the most extensive and complicated card game mechanics in history for sure. I learned how to play the pokemon tcg from the pokemon. Tcg game from the original Game boy.

Hey I am new to the Pokemon TCG by purchasing the Battle Academy game. I already been through twice going through the tutorial, so I am good to go....however there are two things that I wasn't sure about 1) do you move a benched pokemon into the active spot if the previous pokemon was defeated or needs to retreat because it was low on health? And 2) I had Yamper defeated and it goes to my discard pile. I hold in my hand a Boltund Stage 1 Pokemon, Yamper evolves into Boltund but Yamper was already defeated. What do I do with a stage 1 pokemon card without its basic Pokemon?

Hey there - seeing no one got back to you yet, I will give it a go (I never played this before, but from what I understand, these are my answers; if anyone sees I'm mistaken perhaps they can add their own comments): 1) Yes, you move your benched Pokemon into the active spot if the previous one was defeated. Retreating it because it's low on health is up to you (as long as you have the energy required to retreat it). If you use these cards outside of Battle Academy, you're OP as a collector who spent years saving up for these. 100% worth it.

Yes it is. If you run out of cards and can't draw you lose as well, so keep that in mind.

every turn you draw 1 card from your deck. There are cards you can play that allow you to draw more during your turn though.

Wait I don’t understand when can you draw cards? I know when there is like a trainer card that says “draw 3 more cards” and then you can take but if your out of cards in your hand what do you do or do you take one every turn?
