I mean, the mini mart scene was 100% in line with old Todd. The only reason he was being more straightforward at their house is because he wanted them to get the story straight. We never saw this kind of circumstance in the 90s ones. (This is from season 8, directly between old and the reboot)

Cuz In the held back episode Vickers stated they were in 9th grade and by end they went to kindergarten? But here says they went from 10th to 1st? So my guess is it's a writing error.
