I gotta say it's nice to see a J&MM episode which doubles as the thought process behind an AVGN episode.

I always save that burger for when I know I'm going to the hospital next. Makes no sense to eat the burger until you're ready to leave the stage. There's also no reason to specifically eat it with butt-head.

I actually really like this game; it's one of my favorites on the Genesis. I had fun figuring it out, though it is insanely harder with two people, since in one player mode you pretty much have two life bars. Me and my friend beat it once co-op. The confusion and frustration anyone suffers from this game is reasonable, it's not a very clear cut or well-designed game, despite really looking like the show and being a pretty diverse scavenger hunt, and once you've figured out the formula and get both endings (yeah, there's two endings to this game), there's not really much of an incentive to play it again..
"We're sick" nearly each time the the energy bar drops by itself. Just weird to me that they don't hear that or ignore that.
The only purpose of getting sick with the burger is so you can get the scissors in the hospital. The scissors are needed in the last screen of the game for the good ending
I love that they cut from Beavis and Butthead to James and Mike laughing at them. Just like the original show.
I love how before James made the AVGN video on this game, I didn't hear many people hate on it. But now people are treating it like it's one of the worst things ever made. I'm not saying it's a wonderful game. But it's not shitty. Some parts are bullshit. 1. The hospital stage (practice makes perfect) 2. Having one life and having to use a password to continue. 3. Butthead's default attack is kinda stupid. This kind of reminds me of the Indiana Jones N64 video they did a while back.
Took me forever, but I actually beat it. James, Mike, the ending is so fucking worth it.
Uhhh.. Don't know why, but... This is funnier than the AVGN version, I guess..

If you get all of the ticket pieces, go the right to the backstage entrance of the concert, use the scissors to cut the sandbangs, then grab the leather outfits to rock on stage with Gwar :)
It’s still hilarious they didn’t realize the characters saying “we’re sick” after you eat the burger your health starts to drop slowly lol

Used to have the B & B Little Thingies mini-games CD, which was good for quick bursts of fun too. Though the best ever one by far was the arcade game (as is almost always the case), but was never complete, and also extremely hard to find as is though.
I suggested this months ago on your reddit. Thanks for doing a J&M and avgn on it! You guys rock. Greetings from Greece.
This game looks like it could have been a good adventure game if the controls weren't shit, made it easier to heal, not have a broken password system and either not have everything try to kill or make it not broken to take out enemies. Those types of bad games piss me off the most. So close yet so far.

The persistence between them is absolutely phenomenal
I own this game and never figured it out. I'm happy to see you both playing it.
I'm glad you guys decided to release this after the AVGN episode even though it was recorded before it. I remember a while back you guys released a James and Mike Mondays video on a game (I can't for the life of me remember which one) and then the AVGN video on that same game came out very shortly after. It didn't feel like anything new having just explored the game already. Although it was cool to see it explored in character by the nerd, this is a much better way to go about it. Great video and keep it up guys
Out of curiosity, I read another guide online that says you should eat the rotten hamburger as the LAST thing you do before leaving Burger World. Whoever wrote the "official" strategy guide either was stupid, who wanted to punish readers by telling them the hard way. Come to think of it, a lot of official guide way back when either gave you harder methods for beating the game, or where just plain wrong.
I remember the amount of anger this game caused me lol
Best episodes: *when B & B fetch golf balls ("Mr. Anderson's Balls") *out in the woods with Mr. Van Driessen and the drums *drawing the naked people at art class **when they keep getting held back a grade (in kindergarten, 'these chicks are flat, heh heh') *when they go through trouble to get beer and it's non-alcoholic and many more
Really liked this and the episode. Having grown up mostly with sega games I was happily surprised to see the AVGN do an episode about a game I actually grew up with -- I actually own this game. I really love this game; it's actually quite fun after u know what to do. I used to rent it a lot, and finally I ended up buying it used in a trip to the US in Hartford, CT back in 1998. It's in fact the only game I ever bought in US, so it's the only one I have that says 'Genesis' in the box and cartridge, as the others say Mega Drive. As I said I like this game, but I do hate this hospital part and the fact the characters walk too close to the edge of the screen so you very little reaction time when an enemy appears. AVGN should do more sega games. But most importantly don't ever stop doing the character, James; it's always exciting to see when a new episode is on.
Lol I love the fact that James keeps having to refer to the strategy guide!! it's way too funny!!! Keep up the good work guys "well thats it game sucks"
I loved this game... how did I figure all of this out as a kid?! 🍔🍟🐀

I remember getting incredibly annoyed at this game when I rented it. It still looks great. The design is terrible though. It's one of the least fun games I've played from that era.

You must have been a pretty good player to accomplish this.
Mike you know how you guys used to or still record the gaming footage with a DVD recorder? Are you able to connect the console to the TV, the DVD recorder to the tv, insert a blank disc into the recorder his record, play the game and the footage will end up on the disc? I know James did/does it differently with the re-recording onto the camera into final cut, but this other way seems slightly simpler. I don't know if that is an actual method though as I am yet to buy a DVD recorder so I haven't seen how all this could actually all connect up in reality, but I am trying to find out before I buy one, if you can record the footage like how I mentioned? Thank you.
I walked away from the video for a minute. And to my horror, I heard in the background, "WATCH OUT FOR THE HOT DOG! GET THE BOWLING BALL! SHRIMP SHRIMP SHRIMP!" -- I. Am. Fuck.
WOW. That game is *brutal*. Controller-snapping brutal. Since you recorded this prior to the AVGN episode (and you might have answered this beforehand), was this playthrough what made the light bulb go off and have you guys say, "We need to do a Nerd episode on this..."? It's almost reminiscent of what you did for Universal Studios Theme Park (which I really enjoyed watching both the J&MM and AVGN pieces on). Mike does a pretty decent Butt-head impression, by the way... Thanks again for another fun watch.

I never default to the start button in anything. I always press the face buttons to select something because it almost always works and it always has. It's usually only when it fails do I even consider trying the start button.
This is ONE of those FEW & RARE instances in which the Sega Genesis version is better than the Super Nintendo Version, WAY better.
I remember that in the magazines, under the screenshots in the advertisements it said "demolish your own room" obviously completely false you couldn't do that in this video game.
Yes, please do a J&M monday with James as the nerd
