One thing I love about Beavis and Butthead is it's like a sitcom except instead of a cringey laugh track it's just them doing their signature laughs lol

I actually wish the music video segments were still in the streamable episodes. Some definitely did drag on but some were pretty funny and it adds to the nostalgia of it.

The music video portions with their commentary and discussion were my favorite parts. I remember being disappointed when I bought my first Beavis & Butt-head VHS called Work Sucks and it had 0 music videos.

Someone put like 200+ 2-3 minute video clips of them on KZread. I found a playlist I highly recommend to check it out bc I fall asleep to them shitting on 90s music and culture and it keeps me sane

If I'm not mistaken I think that comedy Central picked them up

I have been watching Beavis and Butt-Head since I was three months old when my dad accidently stumbled across it when it was airing on Liquid Television, my parents were trying to get me to calm down and to stop crying about something and they were that thing. Watching this video after having it sent to me by Sean who I have become friends with because of not only our collections (I like to think if he has the largest collection, I have the second? maybe.. haha) but just our overall love for the show. Minus him, I have never known anyone who has enjoyed the show and it always met with oh that show is so stupid, or other random excuses for why people don't like the show, but I have always loved it and it's love in a way that no matter what is going on in my life, good or bad, those two always manage to put a smile on my face, because they are just pure in the way that they are, I can always count on them in a weird way. I understand they aren't real, and even when they aren't around, no matter who comes and goes in my life, no matter how bad my days were, I can always count on them to be there and to be my best friends in some sort of way. This video was absolutely fantastic and absolutely showed the goodness of this show and what made this creation and these characters so incredibly special. Thank you so much for making this!

@@twilson6197 The only people that say this show sucks are the one's that have barely watched it and don't get the jokes. I used to think the same thing til I watched the movie and gave it a second chance, I've now seen literally every episode hundreds of times and I still notice new jokes I didn't realize earlier. I get why people don't like the new show/movie, but the old stuff is subtle, satirical humor and that's what makes it great, they don't have to tell the audience when they make a joke, they just make it and hope you're smart enough to pick up on it. If I was stranded on an island w/ a dvd player and one show/movie to watch, this would be it 1000 times over

Not trying to be contrarian on purpose, but the music videos were and continue to be some of my favorite parts of B&B. But maybe one just had to live through that era and be inundated with the artists they featured (and have friends who would sit around bored and make similar dumb music video commentary while MTV was ubiquitously always on in the background) to have that kind of connection to them?

100% agree. the music video aspect of it is what really made this show especially groundbreaking and also relatable to the people watching it. growing up at the time, it was really cool to see current music alongside characters like beavis & butthead and hearing their reactions to what was playing on MTV at the time. it was always great when they liked a band i liked, and hated a band i hated, and also just hearing their hilarious commentaries on popular music at the time. that was the best part for me, which is what makes the fact that the DVD versions cut it out such a bummer!!

This was a pretty good video but, I have to argue that the music videos were definitely one of the best parts of the show. Viewers loved it. I was born in 1983 and grew up with the show so... I guess you just had to be there and experience the culture at the time in order to fully appreciate it. Thanks for the perspective.

paused at the 2:40 min mark just to comment how the music video parts were the best and was glad to see lots of other people had the same opinion haha edit: im from chicago and have been to galloping ghost several times! sadly, the beavis & butthead game is usually out of service every time i've gone :'(

The video segments and cartoon stories complemented each other. Usually one was good, sometimes both. This was 1 of 2 reasons to watch MTV back then...the other was ogling Jenny McCarthy (before she lost her mind). We didn't have streaming services or on demand, it was cable and VCR's, you have to understand the context of the time. I think that's why when they brought it back with slick animation and them critiquing reality TV (which not many liked anyway) it wasn't the same.

The show is 30 years old and still beloved and relevant in pop culture especially since a new Beavis and butthead movie just came out, and has gotten praise from both critics and fans. The show has made dozens of "Best of" lists over the years and is getting a new season which, for a show that's been off the air for so long, is pretty amazing. Don't know why you're wasting your time replying to every comment on here, on a show you supposedly hate so much.

The videos are just as entertaining in my opinion.. when i was younger i would have agreed w you, i didn't enjoy the video segments as much as an 11 year old, but as a 30 something, they are great.. they have helped me discover artists i would have never listened to back then

I was 9 year's old when this came out when I saw the "Don't try this at home disclaimer" but we were already doing it. We didn't hurt anyone and turned out alright. The video segments along with the actual episodes is what made the show work.

I was born in 91 the music videos segments weren't bad to me growing up.

no one has pointed out the n64 console. the only continuity error in the video.

I don't have to imagine, I was in 1st grade minding my own business, Liquid TV would come on around 7pm-7:30 and i saw frog baseball for the first time. I thought i was literally the greatest thing I've ever seen, eventually season 1 of BnB aired on MTV and the rest was history. My 7 year old brain was blown away. I still vividly recall the ep where Mr Vandriesson was ran over and killed by a monster truck and my jaw hitting the floor being simultaneously horrified and thinking it was the coolest thing ive ever seen in a cartoon.

Funny, Mike Judge hated having to use the reality TV shows for segments.

I like the videos, I just don't like having my imersion broken for 2 minutes every 5 minutes when I'm trying to follow the plot. It gets in the way of the story for me. There's no wrong way to enjoy something. Stop gatekeeping cartoons.

I’m so glad someone else feels the same way about the music video portions. I was mostly bored by them and waited for them to end and get back to the actual cartoon.

This is was funny, well researched, and well written. Another great video

The music video segments is what made the show popular.. you have it all wrong, Beavis and butthead helped keep metal and hard rock in the mainstream during a time when grunge/alt rock was killing metal music off. Again the music video portions of the show is the reason the show is still talked about today.

The brand new 2022 shows are HILARIOUS! They show KZread clips and shit instead of music videos 🤣 Best shows ever! The movie was good - but no where near as amazing as the original.

I gotta come to the defense of the video author here. I knew it would happen when he said the Music Video commentary segments were not particularly good a bunch of people in the comments would say those were some of the best parts. I always disliked those sections and completely agree with the video here. But if other people enjoyed them that's fine, but I don't think it's as controversial as the comments are making it seem that these sections were not the best. Judge even said he was forced to make them at least intentionally. I think if you had some connection to the videos in question you might enjoy it more than just having Mike Judge improv over stuff.

It's pronounced "Illinoi", the "s" at the end of "Illinois" is silent. FYI.

I agree with you concerning the music video portions. Older Gen X people love the music video portions but although I found them entertaining I was always waiting to get back to the main story segments. It’s cool to watch all of the music video portions in their entirety just so you can learn some of the deeper Beavis and Butthead lore(they discuss personal and family history stuff sometimes)

being born in the early 2000s, with parents being teens/ young adults in the 70s and 80s i naturally was exposed to the old stuff, good music, good cartoons, outside world etc. one of those was beavis and butthead. i first saw it about age 10 and thought it was cool but didnt really fully understand it. now being the same age as them i revisited it and got hooked as i have the complete mike judge collection. my favorite parts are actually the music parts, as i like modern rap but 90s rap, heavy medal, rock and roll are my true favorites. unlike the normal 15 year olds now who sit on phones all day, me and my buddys go outside, mess around get in some trouble and go to the gas stations. i really wish i was a teen in the 90s, but theres nothing i can do about it so i try to live it as fun as possible while i have the chance

My fav parts were the music video commentary ..but I'm an older Gen Xer ...I'm sure that if they were critiquing the music videos from your era, you'd appreciate that segment of the show, more ..and remember: this was when MTV was, actually, still primarily about MUSIC VIDEOS

I LOVED the video segments man. I wonder if you saw the actual King Turd edition of the show with the segments IN the episode. If you saw it on those segment only dvds then that would explain why you disliked em. They're part of the whole package.

Bring back MTV. Music videos boosted the popularity of bands, and B&B were so great as a part of it.

n64 in the background? n64 was not out in 92. It came out in 1996. The song Creep released in 1993. Google things man! Some of us lived in the 90s and actually know. Like Beavis and butthead would say, "This channel sucks!"

The music videos are arguably the best part of the show and is what people who were watching it during its popularity remember the most. Although I’ll admit when I some how stumbled onto B&BH as a very young kid, the music videos turned me off

I was born in 1981. I saw the best of MTV. 80s metal, then the glorious 90s. In high school, anyone who had Beavis and Butthead shirts had to turn them inside out. Parents hated that show. I still crack up, watching clips on KZread. Ahhh, memories.

I'm 44 I grew up on MTV to really understand how special these 2 are at breakdowns of videos you would have to know what it was like to spend full summers in the 80s with NOTHING ON TV BUT MTV! And so many sucked! And YO Mtv Raps and HeadBangers Ball got 1 show a week. FOR YEARS! Things were so different just a few decades back you guys HAVE NO CLUE!

Back in the early 90s cartoons were totally amsome! You had Batman the animated series Tinytoon Adventures Ren and Stimpy and Uhutt Beavis and Buthead! They still rule! Today's animation sucks!
