Fun fact! The reason beavers get so freaked out by the sound of running water is that they have an underwater section of their lodge that is filled with food. In the winter, the surface layer of water freezes letting the food get refrigerated and the only way to get to it be through the lodge. So when beavers hear running water it’s not “Oh shit, my house” it’s “Oh shit, the fridge”

and i know why! it's because it means that there's a leak somewhere in their dam, and a leak means that not only is their den (whose entrance is underwater) is compromised, but also that their food stock for the winter is too! See, they feed on fresh leaves, and there's none of that in winter. So, they'll make a reserve at the bottom of the lake their dam forms, where the cold water will keep their food fresh during the winter months. Whenever they're hungry, they just slip out of their den into the ice covered lake and go have a snack! So their reaction to running water is less of a "oh shit my house" and is more of a "oh shit the fridge"!

I like the attention to detail with the beaver's brownish teeth, because they're coated with a thin layer of iron or something else that I can't remember

You're correct, it's iron rich enamel!
Basically they hear water and go “Absolutely not.”
The existential screaming in these videos is relatable
Reminds me of a story about a scientist who played sounds of running water over speakers and got beavers to build a dam in the middle of nowhere just with the sound playing
Love how they continued not to keep an eye on him as he clearly was building for a while lmao

Accuracy detail. The beaver has orange teeth. Real life beavers have orange teeth. Very nice.
They did NOT keep an eye on that guy😂
“We gotta code brown” AAAAAAAAAAAA
I can imagine a beaver yelling at their roommate about leaving the sink running-
I wish running water could compel *me* to be productive.
Me as a Lego builder every time I hear the sound of Lego pieces in a bin being looked through:
Running water for beavers is the human equivalent of seeing bubble wrap and wanting to pop it
Pools are constantly being filled up so a beaver would have a meltdown at a regular pool
These shorts are just so fucking adorable and they continuously make my day
I hate when I'm around the sound of running water and become compelled to build
YOU MADE THE TEETH ORANGE BECAUSE THEIR TEETH HAVE IRON IN THEM SO SMART
Code brown was my favorite thing to hear as a life guard in a big water park, it meant all i had to do for the next half hour was tell people to get out and then basically break till clean up got there and rechlorinated the pool.
River: exists Beaver: not if I have anything to do about it
I just laughed for three minutes straight and I dearly needed it. Thank you so much.
Wait, if Code Brown isn't about the Beaver... WHAT IS CODE BROWN?!

In hospital lingo, yes; but in lifeguard lingo, it's EXACTLY what you think it is. I'm willing to bet that, in this world, the source of that aforementioned Code Brown was a capybara (since they do #2 almost exclusively in water).

They're just blowing their whistles! 🤣
I remember a study done where they played running water from a speaker and beavers proceeded to build a dam around the speaker.
I like it how the beaver has the orange teeth like in real life
Zootopia 2 is looking great 👍
When he said code brown my mind IMMEDIATELY jumped to “someone shat in the pool”. Which, funnily enough, I once had the happenstance of being at a pool at a water park next to another pool in which some kid shat himself, followed by people running out of the water screaming and a lifeguard yelling something. Blimey, it was yonks ago, but the memory remains.
Looks more like a lazy river to me
Aw, the beaver's teeth are orange too. Nice attention to detail.
Small detail but I like how the beavers teeth are orange, which is accurate to real life beavers
Plot twist? Code brown actually means there's a beaver in the pool
I never knew that Consider me surprised 🤯
Omg I can't remember the last time I actually laughed out loud, love this. 😂
Screaming like that is a talent among voice actors
I love how the beavers teeth are orange that's amazing attention to detail! 😊❤😊
this channel taught me more about animals than school ever will
Sea otter. Why are you building a dame? Beaver. It's my LAW!!!
I empathize with that beaver's screaming so hard. OCD is a blessing and a curse.
The first time I watched this I thought that the code brown was a joke about the beaver being brown instead of what it actually stands for.
Beaver: “sees running water” Beaver: *”And I took that as a challenge.”*
Love the little detail that it's front teeth are Orange.
that beaver: DAAAAAMN DAAAAAAAAMN DAAAAAAAAAAAAAM
You guys bring some light to my mornings lmao thank you
I like the detail of giving him orange teeth because of the iron content.
I swear this would make an AMAZING cartoon. Not even like an adult or kids, just keep it exactly the way it is and label it E for everyone.
and i know why! it's because it means that there's a leak somewhere in their dam, and a leak means that not only is their den (whose entrance is underwater) is compromised, but also that their food stock for the winter is too! So their reaction to running water is less of a "oh shit my house" and is more of a "oh shit the fridge"!
judge: ''sir why did you repeatedly smack a 3 yeat old?'' beaver: ''its not my fault he looks like a twig''

WINONA! PUT YOUR BEAVER AWAY!
I love learning animal facts in funny ways! Even if i already know this one.
Id expect code brown to mean someone shat in the pool
I like how the otter and the rat slowly look to the left as the beaver goes floating by.
This channel is so fricking good
That is the most adorable animal fact I have heard so far
The beavers fanatic face as he is batting his tail down on the dam of critters and tubes will live rent free in my head forever.
Really appreciate you making these educational videos entertaining. Makes it easy for the info to stick.
"Then I saw that lake, now I'm a dam beaver. Without a trace, of flow in that line."
Well dam...
Beavers as a species just saw flowing water and took it personally
Can't stop laughing with a Beaver when he keeps slapping with his tail 😂😂
Why do they even give a dam?
cool how they even made the beaver teeth orange since beavers have iron lining the front of their incisors
The life gaurds just helplessly blowing their wistles at the end 😂
“The fridge, Jeremy. THE FRIDGE!!”
I love that to understand it you need to read the title
they hate the very notion that water could be flowing
I was laughing while saying "no not the kids, not the kids!..."
So they just here a river flowing and they just think absolutely not
Yeah, apparently even if you just play the sound of running water on your phone, bevers will instinctively try to make a dam over it.
His screams lmao 🤣

wow this is halarious i love this content.
