Awesome info. You're the Man, Jim! These no line thinners are a huge trap for uninformed sharpeners, I learned this the hard way. They look very similar to normal thinners but if you sharpen them as such, there's a 100% chance that you will wreck them. Easiest way to spot these is the teeth.

I like your method of dulling/tapering the Edge of the straight blade and not like other sharpener videos where they dull the thinning blade. Just starting a side business, practicing for less than a week, sharpened 1 for free first. Did ok, just Rideline no good at first 1/4" could not fix that :(

Thanks Jim, always a great instruction from you. Did you charge extra to fix it? Barry Bevel always ruins the Dual Slide shears too… -Russ

hi Jim, congratulations for your videos, I am very happy to watch them because they are very informative, I am approaching the world of sharpening because I would like to provide this new service in my hardware store, a few meters from my shop there was an old knife grinder who recently closed his business, but in my country (I live in Italy) the old knife grinders don't teach the young, they are very jealous of their professional "secrets", and he too has no intention of teaching me, he will keep his secret in the grave (absurd, but it is) so I'm learning by myself and this is also thanks to your videos, there are tutorials in Italian, but they are very "approximate" and not very instructive. May I know what stone is the one you use to make the plane of the scissors? Thank you.

Also, since you have dulled what is normally the cutting blade, I assume the cutting actually takes place with the toothed edge, right?

Hi Jim, so when you take them apart if you see that the tooth side is hitting the inside of the other blade, is that an indication that you have to dull that side? How do you tell whether to sharpen or dull it?

You’ll need to reach out to via email at otenews@gmail.com with a number you can be reached at for this one. This would take WAY too much writing back and forth. :) Speaking would be easier.

I was trying on my machine Nebrasca Clipper Blade Sharpener , and it was working for like three time on dog, and then they just doesn't cut . Is it problem with adjusting or i sharp them for too short a time ?

Hi Jim, I see that you are using only one micron pad to do your sharpening. I am wondering what micron you are using. Also, are you using the diamond sharpening discs? And what are you using for polish; paste, blue stick/green stick or diamond spray? Thanks!

I use an 600 grit disc and a 3 micron polishing paste on Hamaguri USA’s Diamond Felt Disc. Email me at otenews@gmail.com and I’ll send you some links.
