What tuning is the actual song

No matter what I do I can't get my guitar to sound like that. For the intro i have to start on the third fret, and adjust accordingly. I tuned my guitar to DGCFAD. My amp's setting are normal and nothing else right now could change the tone. What is going on why must I start on the third fret to get my intro to sound like yours? You start on the fourth fret.

I feel as if this is wrong. I mean the song is in standard tuning but the way he plays it and the harmonics are off. I listen to this song and his play through side by side and it was off. But the tuning is standard.
