@@fingmoron No it isn’t soulless in the slightest. I’m an American that has been living in the beautiful English countryside for many years now, and have been lucky enough to explore so much of your historic country. There are hundreds upon hundreds of gorgeous old villages, market towns and smaller historic cities; amazing medieval castles, churches and cathedrals; grand stately homes and Manor Houses; ancient sites from the Roman to Neolithic; world class gardens; the most idyllic natural landscapes etc all over England. I’ve easily visited more of your richly historic country than most natives, and have seen just how special and beautiful it is (as have many others such as the original commenter). I mean the English county I live in has over 650 churches built *before* 1485 - and that’s only *one* of the 48 counties that make up England. That’s without also taking note of how well you have managed to preserve your ancient traditions compared to other nations (e.g. the Coronation last month which was mostly unchanged in ritual and liturgy since the 900s). Incredible! You should actually go out and see it for yourself.

I wonder how they look inside
beautiful place
I hate it when they describe a terrace as "cottages" just to make houses sound more quaint. To me, a cottage is a detached home which, back in the day, might have had a thatched roof.

A cottage is really just a small house. Doesn't have to be detached. And at the time these were built they would definitely have been rural. Hampstead village was well to the north of London.
Lovely. Thanks for showing us. CJ x
That must cost soooo much money

Glorious. Absolutely glorious.
What a fantastic well preserved bit of England ... in a few years time there will be 3 Turkish barbers, a nail bar & few eastern european corner shops & 4 curry houses. Divesity is to be welcomed in all areas with open arms 😉👍

"...and at the end of the street you will find a beautifully preserved block of brutalist, 1970's council tower blocks, very much reminiscent of the style depicted as Megacity 1 in the 2000AD comic book stories of Judge Dredd. The town planning here was simply genius at the time, combining old classic styles with the then new era in architecture...."
Very pretty. But in the dark it could look like Jack the ripper could lurk around the corner 😂
I want to visit that!
Well presented
Strictly speaking they're "square setts", not cobbles.

Protect that street and all its architecture Britian! A message from 🇹🇹.
Oh my goodness! This looks like the pictures of New England architecture. Which makes sense.
I'm glad that you mentioned the song by the kinks. Now you've got me thinking where is Baker Street? That song was made famous by Gerry Rafferty. What's the story with that street😊

So lovely.
Notice the green paint at the bottom of the wall in the end building. Before most people could read streets were named for things (bird street and there’d be a little figurine if a bird) or colors .
Come to Georgia, you’ll find a lot of place like this one ❤
