I'm so glad to see you again with reaction to ABBA several things to say about "Chiquitita" (1979) Chiquitita" means 'little girl' (with affection) in spanish And the melody have a spanish tune, specialy by the acustic guitar But the center is the wonderful piano, like akmost all ABBA songs "Chiquitita" is a beautiful song, it has hopeful lyrics, a melody that starts very soft with the blonde Agnetha's solo, then grows and explodes in a powerful chorus; Agnetha & Frida's vocal harmonies are of excellence It allows us to check how excellent singers Agnetha & Frida are and what harmonies of excellence they achieve. It stands out especially when they stretch the monosyllables with great quality and beauty "Chiquitita" was premiered especially for the UNICEF Concert (January 9, 1979, just 44 years ago!) and its royalties are eternal for UNICEF "Chiquitita" was ABBA's greatest success in Latin America, that prompted ABBA to record it in Spanish, and its success was so extraordinary that in the following year ABBA recorded a full album with their best songs entirely in Spanish ("Chiquitita" in Spanish is the biggest ABBA hit in My country Argentina) Chiquitita" is in the Top 3 of all ABBA worldwide biggest hits, with 'Dancing Queen" and "Fernando", and it's a fantastic Masterpiece These official video was filmed in Swizterland 1979 (ABBA goes for a TV Special) It's the only promotional video that ABBA made without Sweden I hope to see you soon in another ABBA song my next suggestion is "Waterloo" (1974) but I prefer that the ABBA performance at Eurovision Song Contest in UK 1974 kzread.info/dash/bejne/iKRlwbGEkdquido.html ABBA begin your worlwide fame when They conquers the classic Eurovision Song Contest at UK with their iconic song "Waterloo", after these their first worldwide hit GOD bless you and stay safe My best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷 South América and Happy New Year *like an ABBA song from 1980

I am from Mexico and Spanish is my mother language. Let me explain the term "chiquitita" to you: 1. It all starts with the adjective "chico" (masculine) or "chica" (feminine), which means small. When referring to a person, it means a young boy or girl, not necessarily a kid or toddler but rather a young person. 2. In informal Latin American Spanish, we add the "ito" or "ita" ending to adjectives to minimize their meaning. So, in this case, we add "ita" to "chica" and it first transforms into "chiquita", meaning an even smaller thing. When referring to a person, it means a small girl or little girl but the "ita" ending also adds the meaning of affection to it so it means a young o little girl for whom we feel affection. 3. By adding an additional "ita" to the same adjective we keep stressing the meaning of small or, in the case of a person, the meaning of a little person and even more affection. So the word "chiquita" becomes "chiquitita": a very young or little girl for whom we feel a lot of affection. 4. We could keep adding "ita" endings to keep stressing the same meaning but the word starts sounding too exaggerated: "chiquititita" or "chiquitititita" (meaning really tiny in the case of an object), but in the case of a person it is too exaggerated so it starts making no sense. So the BEST word to express love an affection for a little young girl is "chiquitita", the song name. 5. "Chiquitita" is NOT a name, like Laura or Maria or Susan. It is an ADJECTIVE. So in this song, the singer is talking to a very young and little girl for whom the singer feels a lot of affection and whose heart has been broken or is extremely sad for some reason. For me, it is a song about hope, motivation, and resilience. It is a song about support and about finding the strength to move forward in life even when we feel devastated. The last part of the song, the piano solo, is my favorite segment because I interpret it as the moment when the chiquitita, struggling to find energy and strength within her, finally gets up, wipes her tears off, and starts walking again. It is a beautiful song that also makes me cry every time I listen to it, at the beginning because of the sadness and then again at the end because of the hope it conveys. Regards from Mexico City
