Beautiful Boy review: a moving drama about addiction (spoilers)

Фильм және анимация

Steve Carrell and Timothee Chalomet shine in Beautiful Boy, a drama based on David and Nic Sheff's memoirs about drug addiction. Watch my review of Beautiful Boy here.
This movie may not have gotten the Oscars and Baftas they wanted in 2019, but it's a phenomenal watch.

I love this movie. It touches my soul. It seemed to me that the dad to me did his best, but addiction doesn't discriminate. It can happen to anyone. Great family or no family. The quiet silences in this movie are always way too loud for me. Loud and humbling.

The trailers for this film really did emulate that sort of annoying, made-for-tv, awards-bait feel that I consistently roll my eyes at (cough, Spotlight, cough). I'm more curious to see it now after hearing your thoughts. Love both Carell and Chalomet! 'If Beale Street Could Talk' was extraordinary. Jenkins really outdid himself with this one, so I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on that. Seeing 'The Favourite' really soon.
