Beauden Barrett = Beautiful Chaos
Спорт
First off, I hope Beauden is okay after that scary injury that forced him off the field after a horrific challenge by Kurt-Lee Arendse. Beauden is very much a fan favorite for a lot of South African fans as we always loved his style of play and the way he can create chaos and make it beautiful as well. He's such a class player and this moment between him and his brother, Jordie Barrett was just fun to watch. It was an absolutely beautiful kick from Damian Willemse that almost resulted in a 50-22 but then Beauden just created magic from nowhere and almost turned it around for a score.
Not many players can create attacking opportunities the way Beauden can. Even our home crowd went crazy when he went on this run, it was just an amazing moment from him and his brother. I hope he makes a speedy recovery because Rugby is always the winner when he is on the field.

Nothings a worse feeling than being that guy who ends the successful counter attack , big fella at the end was trying to do a bit much with that pass

What I realised with the ABs after these losses as an England fan - is how much for granted I took the skill they play at. I just always thought it is the ABs of course they are quality and they can play with flair 100% of the time with 100% precision. Hope they tune it in because it feels weird seeing them this weak.

i'm sick of the beauden barrett hate from our OWN fans in new zealand. people constantly say "beauden is terrible play mo'unga" when beauden is literally the one piece of string holding our backline together. plays like this only proves we must have him starting.
@samgeorgia7358
2 жыл бұрын
but he is playing in as a full-back in this play, with jordie (15) playing in the line. Yeah he should be starting, but that doesn't mean you can't play the both and beuden rarely shows talent like this from attack (non open play) which is why people tend to want mo'unga. Currently the main reason jordie is playing is for his goal kicking, cause mo-unga doesn't have the range and can't trust Beauden with goal kicking again

As South African who was at the game, I must confess moments of fear when the AB backline did get the ball. They are all brilliant players. Just need confidence and leadership. The AB forwards just gave the game away with errors, and Sam Cane is no Richie McCaw. Fire Foster and Cane. Plumtree would be a much better choice, and Beauden for capt. Couldn't agree with you more. Foster and Cane biggest AB selection mistake. How Cane is ever selected must be a joke in some quaters in NZ but I guess every part of the world has its own parochialism. Foster on the other hand is a lesson in how to get succession planning wrong! A R30m mistake in fact . You have the best coach in NZ sitting on rhe sidelines.Kiwis are going to to owe SA once Fozzy is fired. Ahead of WC. An AB team coached by Scott " Razor" Robinson will be a different prospect success not guaranteed but a big upward tick no doubt ahead of the next WC. With Whitelock the obvious choice as captain . Nice swan song for a legend.. Boks should take next game unless the real ABs show up.

such a shame to see such a rare talent so abysmally coached
Beuden Barret is a marvel to watch. That goose step past Willemse was epic. I think his brother took too long to offload, and Ioane should have passed to the wing, not inside. A more confident AB team would have scored the try of the year right there. From a Bok fan.
It was a beautiful counter attack from goal, reminiscent of a certain Ntamack run from 2021. It's a shame that the last forward carrying the ball didn't simply plow forward for a few more meters: the All Blacks had the momentum for quick ball reset from the ruck. That really should have been a longer play, possibly resulting in a try. Very relieved by the news that Beauden was not severely injured by the arial tackle from later in the match.
First time ever watching an AB Springboks match where the oncoming sense of come-back doom wasn't present in the game. There were a few moments of ab magic but you could almost always rely on an error in the buildup.
It's okay, we win some we lose some, got to play the game well, some brilliant moments from some great players for All Blacks, when they click as unit. Beauden had some fantastic running with ball, 🏈
That was fantastic so was Mr love same same . Ab not beaten yet

Still waiting for akira to show up against more physical teams. He’s one of the strongest runners we have, but we don’t get to see it much.. That pass wasn’t an isolated event. He’s got it in him tho!
I had to laugh when I heard keo say he wouldn’t make a Bok side ….. he is brilliant
I think Akira had Clarke to his left, if only he had seen him
This movement was broken by one of the Ioane brothers who despite having runners beside him chose to pass to his brother despite the Boks covering his brother. If you watched their games the Ioane brothers only play for themselves and each other. Ego driven individuals who may thrive in Super Rugby will found short in the international arena.

That's harsh. I don't think that's a fair evaluation. The pass was bad, a poor choice, and it's a shame that ended the movement, but it wasn't selfish play.

The rugby rule states if any part of your body goes over the line. even touching the ball in the air, then it is out. So it should have been a lineout. He was clearly over the line when touched the ball.

They have always lived off crumbs, the difference is this would be points in previous affairs - not end with a forward pass - just watch most of their games vs SA from 2016-2020. The issue with this play style is you need to be clinical but NZ as of late aren't so when these moments of magic come around they end in nothing.

Even though the running from deep looks risky/daring, he really didn't have any choice. Had the ball gone out, SA would have had a throw in deep into the 22. It was a 50/22 kick, and SA may well have scored from it.

Sigh.... Akira goes for the miracle pass when he had a guy right on his shoulder. He's an annoying player because he's been around for a while now and should be making better decisions by now. He needed to either take the contact and try bust someone up and go through the tackle or pass to the guy on his shoulder. With his open running power I would just prefer to see him just take the contact and try bust over someone 9 times out of 10 in a dodgy situation like that.
If you look at his stats at the end of the game I'm sure you'll see the total opposite.
That tap could've been the dumbest decision ever if SA had a proper chase

akira is actually one of the best open running loose forwards in the game. He played for the NZ seven team. He is just exhibiting what all the team, is displaying. Over[laying their hand because they are trying too hard but not being in sync.
A bad carpenter with the best tools will still do a bad job. It's not the tools that the problem but the way they are used. All Blacks are really good as seen when coached by Hansen but Foster hasn't quite got the hang of how to use them thus good players not coached properly are not much better than bad players.

Honestly I do wonder what game some people are watching at times. A couple of points: - If he allows the ball to go into touch SA have a lineout throw 5m out. (50/22) What do you think might happen there!! Here's a clear example of a rugby player being aware in the moment and playing his team out of a pickle. If the ball had gone dead in goal it would have been an accident. Clearly he was not intending for it to go dead. He was attempting to keep the ball live. He was not attempting to prevent an opponent from gaining possession. Willemse is 20plus metres away. It's a long bow you are drawing if you are suggesting that such would be intentional. Mind you having said that we do see some inventive refereeing from time to time. In a women's game in NZ yesterday, a penalty try was awarded when a defender blatantly hit the ball dead in goal. This was a clear case of intentionally knocking the ball dead quite unlike Barret who was trying to keep the ball in play.
