sail ties only tear the main if you run the reef lines under/around the boom - they should always just wrap around the gathered foot of the sail - won't tear if the outhaul breaks.

Great episode guys. It should be titled “Danger on the high cheese” I don’t know if you are keeping up with the news from back home. But Asda and other supermarkets have run out of Vegetables. The Government said it’s due to heavy snow in Spain. But we all know the B word is the real reason. Anyway. You can make serious money with a boat now smuggling tomatoes across the Channel so get yourselves to the hyper market in Cherbourg and you will clean up.

Very nice filming and editing. Loved the piano with the wind and the waves in the background, beautiful. Great job, guys. And we like watching you reef the main or do whatever whenever you do it. It's different each time and a different trip, so, put in the footage, the sail work is very interesting, I think, even if I have seen it 'a million times' :)

Wow thank you so much! It's really good to get such positive feedback 💪
Use the handles of a pair of pilers for the gaps in the turn buckles, the handles have a coating rubber or plastic that will prevent marking the turn buckles and also evenly spreads the force you are using , which I think makes it easier.

@@TheSailingBrothers It's the first lines of a famous poem called "Sea Fever" by John Mansfield, published 1905. I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by, And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking, And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking. I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied; And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying, And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying. I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life, To the gull's way and the whale's way, where the wind's like a whetted knife; And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover, And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

Hi boys. Great video (as usual). Been looking back through prev vids, trying to see if your mainsail is loose footed. If it is, when you reef, tie your flappy bits into a bundle without including the boom. This will prevent damage if the outhaul should fail. In the process of clearing my flat and joining the liveaboards in Milford Haven Marina. Happy days. See you on your way back. Keep smiling 🧀🧀🧀

Yo Bros, great episode, so many scenes reminding me of passages past., and the Tuna Pasta, cor.............. well, ok, we never put cheese on it, well sometimes we did, but we liked a teaspoon of Chilli Flakes. Twas nice to see the Log being dealt with, on passage I ALWAYS made a Log entry every hour, my instructor drummed it in to me, that if for some reason you lost all power, you were only one hour away from your last "plot", then you could navigate the "old" way. And he was right !!!!! Kind Regards to you both Barnacle Bern SY Cadbri SW Wales. 👍👍⌛📏📐⛵
