You all did amazing work with this game, both in a technical sense and in a design sense. It’s a fantastic game that is way ahead of what I would expect from a game jam gam. If I had to give some critical feedback: I feel like it could probably use a bit more hand holding (like a hint option or more tutorials) and you will have to work hard on your SEO to make it findable because most search engines will assume that people misspelled ms paint, but it seems super solid overall

That gamejam game deserved to be its own video! I used to be involved in a lot of gamejams so when you first started talking about it I was expecting some rough little proof of concept prototype but that is a fully realised game and a good one at that! Very impressive!

I love how confused Carl is when his ONLY OPTION is the jump button... And he always seems shocked when he finally realizes it!

10:27 12:55 For anyone else who didn't understand the troll like Carl didn't, the choice isn't left or not, it's jump or don't jump. You have to predict whether you think the spring will bounce you left or right, or if it matters which direction you're facing.

I think there's another solution to the pipsqueak ending. 1. end up in the transition that's blocked off, when you come back the only pipsqueak is the big on on the left side. 2. Let the first block drop and keep doing small jumps to gradually make the squeak jump up the clouds 3. Optional: Get trolled by the first block reappearing so if you're spamming you end up back into the transition again) 4. Eventually manage to make the squeak climb the clouds until off-screen at which point you can walk into the lowest portion of the flag Not sure if there's some proofing that you can't do that but it seems like it's possible to still win at that point.

I've had a cough for a very long time, so I don't get annoyed when people cough, because other people have to deal with mine

That game’s system of using colours to import any image reminds me of Scratch. Remember old 2010s Scratch, where the easiest way to handle collision was by colour?

Finishing World 1 and the final boss was "Touch Grass" lol.

7:28 i think works because when you fall without jumping you are capped at the slow momentum of the falling bloc and by the time the screen scrolls and the bloc falls the spring is already corporeal, but if you jump before the bloc falls then you gain momentum and by the time the screen scrolls the spring hasn't become corporeal and you go through it and get bounced

Killing the skipsqueak gives you a key, forcing you into the warp block.

@@sinteleon ...you are not allowed to do anything but jump if a Skipsqueek is on screen. If you kill it there as Carl did, there isnt one on screen anymore - so you are allowed to also move left and right and thus walljump up to the 30 coin

Personally I heavily dislike this type of puzzle games, I call them "precision puzzle". In games like these, you usually spend 90% of the time figuring out the exact pixel and configuration of elements that the author wants you to use, even though you already solved the puzzle 5 minutes ago. Instead of logical reasoning, you're just stuck with trial and error. It's just tedious instead of challenging.

i like this game, the trial and error kinda reminds me of poly bridges sure, its easy enough to come up with a solution, but the fun comes from trying to optimize your solution to make it work, and if it doesnt work you have to be creative and come up with different solutions

that's why there's a grid: your jump height is about 2 grids, so you can easily manipulate the exact heights you need.
