For years we thought Sorted was about educating the normals and raising them up to be more like a chef. Now I see, it's about crushing Ben's spirit and bringing him down to a normal level.

@@kyrionbookshield2205 That's been an issue for me when watching these videos. Ben always makes some out there recipes with regional tastes, which is fine sometimes, we all like to mix things up from time to time and try some different, new and fresh. But lets face it, if given a plate of medium rare fillet steak, hand made triple cooked chips and a fried egg on the side, then was also presented with a some of the regional foods Ben makes, we all know which we are picking in the moment. Obviously it depends where you are from, im from the UK so while I like foods from all around the world, nothing makes me feel better than a fish and chips on a summers day or steak and kidney pie with mash on a rainy winters day. Sometimes there is nothing wrong with coming down to that level and just enjoying the simplicity of those flavours.
Ben's disbelief is so refreshing to see. I have flashbacks of Barry having a little tantrum when he lost the photography badge to Jamie. So satisfying.

@@patfitzgerald1828 Completely understandable though. Bergamot is an instensely floral citrus flavour. Some of the feedback was that it "tasted like a bath-bomb"... which is entirely appropriate, because "orange scented", and "citrus scented" bathbombs almost ALWAYS use bergamot instead, because it has an intensity and strong odour that can't be replicated by oranges or orange essence, but gives off a strong smell of oranges when softly heated. So I am only 2/3 of the way through, but here is what I notice about the cooking of both chefs (yeah, I said what I said, Jamie gets a nod today): they fully grasp that the whole idea of cooking with random, disparate ingredients is layering. They start with a core idea, then they add a note of this, balance it with a bit of that, add a contrast, give a taste of different elements with different, but connected essences, and keep going until you have a single, cohesive, and likely stunning final plate. It doesn't matter the skill (ok, well, it matters less) of the chef. What matters is their understanding of how those layers are going to present to the diner, and the connection they will taste between elements. (OK, now that I have said all this, Jamie, don't blow it all up in the last 3rd and make me look like an armchair arse!)

A pinch of salt is also a good way to reduce bitterness.
I don't think Barry's one to reign in Ben's anger, considering his reaction to losing photography battle.
Jamie’s way of trying to figure out if those flavors go together… that’s the best method posible.. it goes with my life motto : “if you don’t eat it, how can you know that you don’t like it?”
Recently discoverered you guys and now i'm hooked. I'd love to see some dietary requirements dishes in the future, especially since I am a diabetic. Keep up the good work guys.
Ben's reaction to the result was fundamentally very fun. I would have gone for Jamie's dish myself too. I should note Ben's meat negative sentiment pops up /yet again/ as he blames Jamie for not being seasonal enough and goes on about seasonal vegetables, which he will do regardless of the actual season, because every season has vegetables attached to it. Having 4 judges to pass out score seemed fair, as it was less dependent on individual opinion.
I'm with the team, Ben's dish was great but I thought there would be too much from zest and juice on the bergamot, it can be super perfumed. Jamie went comfort and won, congrats J!
That was really fun. Ben freak out and Jamie turning into a goat tasting everything. Top tier episode.
I chuckled at Jamie's "slaw-able" comments, but as a fellow normal, that's how I think about and treat new to me ingredients. What does this look or act like and can I put it in a recipe/dish I already know how to make?
I’m speechless how did Jamie win omfg

Mind blown 😂
Well done Jamie!! Loved this. Seeing Ben's reaction to losing was hilarious.. you guys are so wholesome!!
Jamie and Baz have the cutest dynamic. I must have watched the ending 10 times! 🤣
Crispy gnocchi?😱. I eat my words Jamie's food did look delicious
Can we get a Fluster the Chef challenge? Each normal picks 2 regional ingredients from different corners of the world and that's all Ben has to work with. Then, if he's still getting on too well, each normal gets one Sabotage like turn off the stove for 10 minutes or one hand behind your back.
Ebbers face turned the color of that watermelon radish at the end, amazing.
😂 Ben, your reaction was a stunner! I love a beat the chef video but this one was one of the best.
Let’s go, love Beat the Chef
The takeaway from this episode… When in doubt, “slaw that $#!+”.

Im waiting for the book drop "skewers and slaw"
Everyone's reaction, especially Ben's, was just great to see. Very entertaining. Also I think that's at least twice now Jamie has beaten a professional at their own game by just being himself.
Never expected Ben to lose. That plating was absolutely on point. I guess it goes to show you that sometimes even the best chef forgets to not overwhelm the flavors on his plate.
Barry is an awesome host. And yay Jamie

Ya, I thought Barry was great this episode
Ben's reaction was priceless. The shear righteous indignation that he lost to Jay's Duck Kebab was hilarious. If I was on the food team, I'd be running for a flight to a non extradition country to lay low for a few weeks ,to let Ben cool down, before he could think of evil ways to punish me. 😁 Oh well look on the bright side Ben, you now know where you went wrong. 🤣😉 And well done Jay on winning with a "Mediterranean Pub Lunch with a duck twist", and that last minute homemade mayo..... *French Chef Kiss*
I actually really liked seeing how the chef and the normal go about figuring out ingredients. It makes sense to just, try it if you don't know what it is. Figured out the tastes and used it. Even the spiced rum lol. Ben? Science!
I haven’t laughed as hard as I did watching this! Thanks you all so much x
New pans for this mystery box. I like the look of them with this set. How did they hold up and perform compared to the hexclad set?
Hahahaha poor Ben, I felt for him, the dish looked beautiful but I've never seen a bergamot so I don't know what it tasted like.

Same, I feel Ben's reaction is justified... While I loved watching his reaction, I also feel like his was still better than Jamie's
Haaaahaha Ben was legitimately pissed he lost, that’s hilarious. Over a fucking bergamot lol
just realized Barry was asking Jamie to see the colors on that vegetable item. Barry, come on, you know he would if he could. hahahaha
Love this. Baz's voice went about 2 octaves lower at some point. As for the dishes, on a Summers night give me Spaff's, on a night out at a restaurant give me Ebber's
